Player Watch 2024 Father-Son player watch - Ky Burgoyne and Ned Maginness

I hope the AFL have some common sense when they look the academy rules at year-end. Father-son should just prevail the academies if they’re eligible for both. I feel like it’s a contradiction to the romanticism of the father-son rule if you have players choosing academy over their dad’s old...

    Preview Round 4, 2024 : Collingwood v Hawks, 5:10pm Sunday 7th, Adelaide Oval

He’s technically a coach already that doesn’t fall in the soft cap. Made a lot of sense bringing him back

Autopsy Round 2, 2024: Hawks go to hell

Would love to see Moore get some more time in the guts. Whatever is currently going on with our current midfield mix is not working

Training 2024 Preseason reports and discussion

I don't think DGB is ready to be thrown in the deep end as a genuine key defender yet. Two alternatives in my opinion: 1. Play Frost in place of Blanck 2. Sicily plays on the number 1 forward again and we play DGB in the intercept role Unfortunate as Sicily free roaming is lethal, but I'd...

    Toast Welcome back, Rough!

Don't know if anyone saw Air by Ben Affleck last year, but Roughy seems like he could be the type of person whose role aligns with Matt Damon's Sonny Vaccaro. Will be easy to see if he can help us land some big fish in the next few years or not

Ultimate Glory 2023 Trade speculation and Shinbeggars discussion

The thought of a couple childhood hawks wearing the 23 (Baz) and 33 (Ginni) are what kids who grew up in the golden era dream of. Would be unreal.

Ultimate Glory 2023 Trade speculation and Shinbeggars discussion

To weddle or park it for a year I reckon. Or was kind of hoping to see Baz in it with the photos of him and Buddy as a kid, but that doesn’t seem like it happens this year

What is the purpose of the PSD these days? Can’t believe that it’s a tool that clubs can use as leverage in the trade period, it’s wrong

Geez I’m excited to see what Mitch Lewis could do next year with a bit less heat on him with Gunner and Mabior in.

List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management 2023

There is a role for Kosi to play in a better forward line structure, where he I think he can be a legitimate number 3 forward who pinch hits in the ruck. I don’t think it’s fair to judge him on games like today where he is being asked to do more than he can handle. It just remains to be seen...

If he requests us, I reckon a trade gets done. If not though then we walk him to the PSD. And if North pick him up, it is what it is really.

Player Watch 2023 AFL Draft Pool Discussion Thread

I appreciate the work Twomey does but the Essendon side of him shows with the pessimism in that last sentence. Seems that he does not want us getting him cheap

News Hawk for life, Luke Breust. Signs to 2024. Kicks 500 goals!

Would love a bag of 5 against the Dockers this weekend to get to 50 goals for the year. It'd be the 4th time he has achieved that feat

    Toast Hawthorn have headf***ed everyone

The fact that we could end up with 9 wins and still finish 16th is ridiculous. That’s a real headf*** for the rest of the comp.

If Gresham comes in, do we assume Chad is on the way out? Not a bad return if we net a late 2nd/early 3rd for Chad and pickup Gresham for free

Welcome Welcome to the Hawks Jack Scrimshaw

If he can play the role he did a yesterday with consistency, there is always a spot for him in the 22. He was fantastic yesterday, was proud to see his defensive intensity was there all game

Autopsy Round 21, 2023 : Hawks roast the Pies

Every time Fisher is mentioned I remember David King saying this relating to Sammy: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/football-iq-off-the-charts-david-king-says-carlton-teen-zac-fisher-uses-the-ball-like-sam-mitchell/news-story/0dc4de3fc820400a936d577c25277fbf Anyone still see these traits?

Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn, Denver Grainger-Barras

Showed a bit, and it’s worth persisting with him being a forward. Definitely can be an aerial threat, but needs to work on getting to more contests to use that threat. Giants were set up well when we didn’t win it from centre clearance, so it was a rough gig coming up against Taylor/Buckley...

'Questions that don't warrant a thread' Thread - Part 2

Scanning in should be fine to access the GA. If you want to be safe and guarantee a seat then you should reserve, although I highly doubt the game will sell out with the form the Blues are in

Autopsy Round 13, 2023 : Hawthorn mauls Brisbane

I mustn’t be far from you, that kid was giving me the s**** the whole first quarter. I wish the MCG would do a better job of making sure members are the only people in the reserved bays, because I’ve never seen that kid before so I doubt he was a member.

Autopsy Round 13, 2023 : Hawthorn mauls Brisbane

Bramble probably has to go out for Ward. Stiff with the team balance finally feeling right, but it’s one swap where it is a real upgrade for us. Ward’s class kicking inside 50 will be a good return. Also think Cama has been great as the sub, and would keep him there until we have a full time...

Punky looks like he can keep this up for another 3 years at least. Wouldn’t be rushing him out the door by any means, good small forwards just don’t grow on trees

Autopsy Round 12, 2023 : Hawks on smoko for the first half.

Moorey is so impactful when he gets CBA’s and midfield time. We saw it yesterday in the second half and last year too. Hopefully our small forward depth improves in the next few years to allow him to be released into the midfield a bit more
