He is a Clarence boy. Some of the comments about names on this site, makes me wonder if half the people on here even follow grade cricket, or are just making a comment for no reason what so ever!
There are a few who know what they are talking about, but some geeze people get your facts right...
Haha not full of s**t. I played in it before it was called futures league - when it was the proper second 11 comp. Quiet a few years ago. Don't live or play in Tassie anymore! But i still do follow tassie cricket alot.
Nothing personal Sherb. I have watched alot of Tassie cricket live over the last 5 years. I just can't stand people claiming that we have the best gloveman in the country, rush him back for the final, and drop two catches.
Heck, if Brad Haddin dropped either of them, we would be annoyed. One...
Hi Tom Triffet, thanks for dropping the shield for us.
People on here can't argue that his second catch didn't cost us the game.
Go to WA and chase a game/money you little Prick. Maybe there you will learn how to catch and make runs.
Ok, maybe it didn't cost us the game, but FFS people on here were talking him up as the best keeper in Aus. The bloke was gifted a game last year, did ok but not great, and now people are talking him up as a future Australian player.
He shouldn't have walked back into the team. I would have...
yep, first ton for Jones in a few years, however Triff has a highest score of 80 odd in first grade cricket.
I don't care if someone takes 6 catches, as a keeper it is about the ones that you miss
They rushed Triffett in for Jones.
Triff drops a standard catch and costs us the match, meanwhile Jones made 145 out of his teams 240 in a semi final yesterday in grade cricket. FFS - just to try and stop Triff moving states.
I agree with everything you said.
It would be interesting to see if Paine had not of broken his finger and played this year. Would Haddin of been on this tour? I think no.
It just seems like the selectors still want Paine in the longer formats, so they are holding onto Brad so Wade...
Pretty standard squad. Thought G Bailey might have snuck in the squad, but there isn't room in it for him.
Team pretty much picks itself after the test matches this summer.
No idea. The head coach would have to be doing allright, otherwise we wouldn't retain some of the best coaches in the world.
Reckon the assitant coaches are probably on 50K. They don't have to work the full year.
It also wouldn't be about just the $$$ They would probably get a car...
Triffett isn't the best keeper in the country. Hartly, Paine, Crosthwate, Nevill just to name a couple are all better keepers than Triffett. I have watched him shell multiple catches at grade level.
He should be picked in front of Jones though.
Agree - tough gig on Jones but life goes on...

I feel sorry for Jones. 2 years in a row he is dropped for the final.
Yeah Triff makes more runs, but Jones is a good keeper. He has kept really well. Oh well - that is professional sport for you!
Tassie has 3 coaches.
Head coach - T Coyle
Assistant coach & Bowling coach - A De winter
Assistant coach & Batting coach - M Divaneto
Add a strength and conditioning coach - M Marshall (former Aus high performance analyst)
Tassies set up seems to work
I understand that people doubt because he didn't get a contract in NSW, but he did play second 11 up there.
But he really just didn't get an opportunity due to their bowling stocks. The amount of fast bowlers in NSW when fully fit over the last couple of years was just crazy!
I can see why...
Without getting ahead of myself - what are your thoughts on this guy?
7 matches
48 wickets
Average of 15.75
SR 33.69
Econ 2.81
He is now the greatest ever wicket taker in the Sheffield Shield for a debut season. Leading wicket taker in this years competition.
I know he has bowled...
Haha - the walking wicket was robbed of a hundred!
Great win Tassie. Great work. Won by 4 players really. Fantastic stuff! Bird - WOW, if he keeps this up, he might be not too far from the Aus team!
Bird is as said, a high 130s bowler, who just makes batsman play alot, gets a bit of the seem. Very accurate. Would be perfect back up on an Ashes tour. Hell, he could play test matches with his current record.
Cam White said after his debut match, that Bird was as good as there is going...
Yeah, he must be on his last legs. I do agree, but he did score a hundred not long ago.
Although he got dropped a couple of times during the innings - it is irrelevant. According to the stats he still has the ton. It is irrelevant, because we will win this game outright, and he will be...
You are actually underselling the NTCA
Add Bailey and Smith to that list as well.
The only Hobart born players in the Tigers squad are
Paine, Butterworth, Jones, Wells, and Rainbird.
Recently??? What are you talking about. The last person to get picked from the NTCA to play for Tas was...
I disagree, seems like the wicket still has a bit of life in it, and Tassie are trying to push for quick runs. Fair enough Wells got out for not many, but the others seem to be having a crack. Cowan and Ponting both gave a couple of chances, so it indicates the wicket still has something in it...
Fair shout. Gotta enjoy things while the going is good. I am a Richmond support. It is fair to say i have to celebrate the success of the Tassie Tigers because the Richmond Tigers don't give me much to celebrate!!!
If Katich goes West next year, and you guys can maybe get 1 more good...
Wrong. He left Ulverstone (NWTCA) to go to Hobart on a rookie contract.
Spent a couple of years on a rookie (one of which he had back problems so became a brickies laborer), and then cracked the big time.
Was playing for University when he got picked.
