I have a Swans mate too who accused me of trying to end Paddy's career by saying this kid needs to be told it's time to go.
Some people are quite weird on this topic. Clearly ANYONE, doctor or not could see from that last hit where a blade of grass concussed him that it was time.
Also enough...
Yeah I'm serious. Sure people on Big Footy know him but regular one team supporting, armchair non-members would have NFI unless they followed StK. All of us know him but we're the 1%.
If you compare someone like Rachele to Phillipou... if Rachele was uncontracted at the end of next year every...
So you're taking Phillipou off the radar because "probably cost too much".
If he's costing a lot late in 2024 it's because he's an elite talent. Why would we want to take that off the radar. I'd prefer a 192cm mid with elite talent over Petty and happy to pay for it!
Yes, of course the recruiters have a far better idea of potential but it's the public and media perception of the player that puts the pressure on a club and inparticular the list manager to get fair value. If the whole media circus is banging on about your outgoing player you have a lot more...
Adelaide's 1st and future 1st is the equivalent to what Richmond paid for pick 2 Tim Taranto... there is no way in hell an uncontracted Phillipou is worth close to that. He's largely unknown to most AFL fans.
Cal Twomey confirmed that it is almost certainty, just working through the finer details (eg. who can be traded). If you google it also you can see articles on it.
All the recent high end talent traded excluding the elite guys in JHF, Rankine and Taranto have been traded for the following:
Hollands (Pick 7) - free (drugs)
Bruhn (Pick 12) - Pick 18
D Stephens (Pick 5) - essentially free
Henry (Pick 7) - Future Second Round pick
Caldwell (Pick 11) - Pick 29...
All I'm saying is the options in 2024 look pretty damn good for what we want to achieve. We currently have 2 First Rounders (2024/2025) and 3 second rounders (2024/2024/2025) that we can dispose of. I think bringing in Petty and an out of contract 2nd year player is very realistic.
What's wrong with having an open list spot with a mid season trading period?
But yes I agree, does seem strange. A late Freo pick coming back would make some sense.
McCluggage/Hayward (free), Phillipou (second rounder) & Petty (first rounder + steak knives) + Welsh (father son with junk picks)
Pretty good reason to trade pick 14 into next year with Freo if you ask me.
Not necissarily. Reid has said we'll be looking to trade and add free agents next year so it's possible we bring in both an elite mid and KPP. Why draft an 18 year old when you could have these guys?
Free Agents
McCluggage
Hayward
Duggan (could deliver WC pick 2 with a decent offer, he's only...
Totally agree with this sentiment. Great for filling injury holes up forward and down back. Excess talls also allow us to play the swing men in their optimal position.
Plus with Tex reaching the end I like the idea of Petty playing forward and O'Sullivan down back, or the two of them swinging...
I can see a scenario where Oliver doesn't come back next year citing personal reasons. A few more stories leak out. Next minute we're taking on his 2030 huge contract for a third round pick and Melbourne paying some of his salary. Not saying he'd turn the corner in Adelaide, might never play a...
Would like to see what idiot Ralph has to say here RE essendon trade.
I would love to trade 14 and 20 into 9 if both O'Sullivan and Wilson are available when Essendon are on the clock.
Agreed but it just doesn't sound realistic with Geelong, Essendon, GWS and Adelaide all into similar players.
I think the only way this happens is if we can retain 10 and trade up to 8 on draft night.
Eg.
8: O'Sullivan
10: Wilson
To convince Geelong the offer would have to be pretty damn...
Mutineer
What do you prefer?
10: Wilson
14: DeMattia
20: Goad
OR
8: O'Sullivan
14: DeMattia
OR
10: Wilson
14: Future First Round Pick (one of Freo's)
20: Goad
