There are fears Shuey’s injury is similar to navicular bone bruising that forced forward Jack Darling to miss the opening three months...
I don't think you can solely blame Ben for that. West Coast were considered untouchable as the only "real" WA team throughout the 90s, and Ben even discusses in his book the "party culture" and legend of Mainy who would show up to games off his face.
While Ben is ultimately responsible for his...
Yeah, there weren't too many frees that went our way that shouldn't have. The umpiring across the weekend was pretty inconsistent anyway, and the Eagles/Hawks game was no exception. We were the dominant team and Hawthorn were constantly second to the ball; usually conducive to a higher free kick...
I'd rather us chase Bennell. Younger, more upside and can see him as a genuine matchwinner for us. Jetta is, and will remain, an outside midfielder, of which we already have two (Gaff, Masto) who I'd probably rate higher and would rather not see them lose their place.
Happy to see Bennell carve...
What do we all think is our greatest jumper number? There's a few good contenders.
3 - Mainwaring, Judd, Gaff
9 - Wilson, Cousins, Naitanui
17 - McKenna, Chick, Kennedy
Probably the top three.
"We're here to win a Premiership."
I used several tissues.
- "Were you surprised when you looked up and saw the margin at three-quarter time?"
- "No I'm never surprised about what our players can do."
Couldn't be happier with his appointment.
* I hate the sub rule. Neither Ellis or Rosa would be a great choice as sub; right now it seems to just be about selecting the worst of our Best 22. Is there a chance Masto could start as sub and come on in the third? Or is he more likely to be subbed out?
Just thinking fitness/cotton wool.
It's only a negative because it means we don't get to see the boys play for a week. It's an incredible positive for the side; exactly what they needed. I don't think they'd be much of a premiership chance had they lost and had no rest and had to travel.
When did Rosa become the anti-Rosa? What a star.
In: Priddis, Masten
Out: Selwood, McGinnity
Absolutely no reason why that shouldn't happen. Selwood was far from good and his kicking let us down. Gaff, Rosa, Shuey and Hutchings were huge in the contests; we barely missed Pridda at all. This is...
Weren't WCE/Freo standalone teams the original proposition, but the WAFC knocked it back in favour of club alignment? Their proposal for a standalone club which competes for points but is ineligible for finals and premierships and gives up all gate receipts to its opponents seemed like a lot...
Can't really compare Darling to two midfielders, and it's hard to even compare Gaff and Shuey, but I went with Darling for both. He stood up when JK went down and has the ability to impose himself on a game like the other two haven't been able to do so far.
I hope all three are lifers, but I'm...
Naita was dominant, but he was certainly helped by the Dogs having virtually no ruck division to speak of, even when Campbell was on the ground. Was great to see him asserting himself on the game from the opening minute though; you can tell he was itching to get back out and help the boys storm...
Totally agree. He's definitely nailed a spot in the side for the remainder of the year, although I don't like the idea of him getting games in 2016 ahead of the likes of Duggan and Nelson.
He's turning out to be a very capable depth player, though.
Can definitely agree with this. He stood out a lot more in the final quarter when others seemed to take a step back, but the likes of Shuey, etc, were more influential when the game was still open.
Bennell will stay for pace; performed better than Nelson today on attack, which Simmo seems to value a lot higher than "simple" defence. Jacko didn't offer much offensively today, but he still has a place in the side in front of Bennell for mine, but based off form, Jacko will go out before...

Immense final quarter.
The way the boys got around Naita and Muzz shows how much they want to play with and for each other, something that has been missing for a while, even in the success of 2011/12.
Good selections. Seemed cheeky not choosing a KPD, but I understand the "misquito fleet"...
