Australia has this wierd obsession with thinking all rounders can play middle order (Green) and open the batting with no problems at all (Watson years ago).
We just dont know how to use all rounders.
Think of all the great all time all rounder players - Botham, Hadlee, Dev, Shaun Pollock -...
People have to take a step back with Green and look at actual results.
First of all hes lucky to be in the team.
The few times hes made decent scores is at number 6. He has never performed at number 4. What makes you think he will?
Hopefully the Windies can hold on to them and not lose them to the ridiculous mickey mouse Indian Premier League. The Windies isnt a country, so there isnt the same national pride that Australian and English players have for example.
Pakistan and the windies have some excellent bowlers but their batting has been ordinary compared to ours. I thought Chanderpaul has been a disappointment for them. Last summer I thought they unearthed a talent
Still the second most popular sport in the world if you take population into account.
Its not just about formats is about how competitions are structured. We dont need endless meaningless ODI and T20 games just keep the world cups and ditch the rest
And what about his bowling? It gets compromised. This is what im saying, even on this forum people only discuss Green as a batsman. Green is a primary bowler compared to Marsh or Watson.
Hes not a fill in the overs medium pace. He needs to be used in a 4 man pace attack. Australia never thinks...
Australia doesnt know how to use or manage all rounders. Reminds me of having Watson opening the batting which damaged his career IMO. Marsh at 6 is where you want an all rounder
Performed worse than all the other top order batsman. Might be a bit much to blame one player for costing the series win but he should have been dropped on form
They were unlucky in 97, having to play north at the G was like having the pies or Richmond at the G back then after finishing second, but having to travel to Adelaide the week after was even more unfair. Thank god the finals system changed after Carltanks reward for failure in 99.
Also didnt...
People say Geelong were too Ablett centric back then - but in 91 finished 3rd without him up and about and second on the ladder in 97 (after he retired).
I thought they were at least as Good as North who were incredibly lucky to get weak sides in their Grand Finals, essendon also.
Might be wrong but I think years ago When Costa and Cook were in charge they actually PREFERRED home games at the MCG for purely financial reasons.
1. So Geelong supporters who live in Melbourne can get to games.
And
2. For more TV exposure during prime time.
Dont like it myself either but...
Unpopular opinion - I dont think North is even a badly ran club - just a small club with less supporters.
Some of the big clubs have been badly managed over the years. Richmond in the 80's and 90's, Essendon during the drug saga and Carlton nearly went into administration until they got rescued...
No different to when Melbourne were on the bottom or the 'handouts' sydney got when they lost 40 something games in a row in the 90s. We dont have relegation its not the EPL.
I dont know how old you are but not that long ago they were the 'team of the 90s' and geelong were 7 million in debt. All...
Wasnt even a proper merger but a takeover Fitzroys flags arnt even counted as part of Brisbane Lions a know a lot of old Fitzroy fans refused to switch to supporting Brisbane Lions
Reality is there is no player thats been the calibre of selwood thats come through the draft since. Yes Clark gives me hope but hes still unproven. I remember people talking up allen christiensen as a potential A grader years back. Cam Guthrie is perhaps an A grader
Need Wells and co to stop the fixation with outside players and focus on an inside bull midfielder at the draft.
When was the last inside A grade inside mid recruited at the draft and not traded in/out? Selwood?
Can all these Grundy desperados do me a favour and watch him the next time he rucks. Every hitout goes STRAIGHT to the opposition. Hardly does much else around the ground either. Most overrated ruckman EVER.
Need to hit the draft or recruit youth before Tasmania enter the league or we'll be the...
