Did lead the game with 17 pressure acts. Ollie Hollands was next with 15.
I'd say he is still finding his feet after a long time out. Think we will get more out of him the 2nd half of the year. Might need a run in the twos to help find his old touch but we have run out of players.
As long as one can play well forward then it works. TDK certainly does that. By contrast Grundy and Gawn didn't work as they are both useless forward. Was like playing one short.
From a neutral I think Brisbane have been better too. Too much finessing in wet conditions have hurt and cost big time. When Geelong have got it (and haven't) they have played true wet weather footy.
Carlton are actually flag contenders, can't believe I get to say that after all these years, and Freo will play finals IMO at least. Freo won a final in 2022, had a stinker last year, which happens, even to sides thay won a flag the next year, but look decent this year. Both are have come on...
Of course, naturally Freo's were all there, haha, but, hey, if Carlton get a dodgy one.....
One HTB was clearly handballed and was basically no more than a bump. That's for starters. So don't complain. What comes round goes round. Enjoy your loss. We might get the violin out for Freo...
Be surprised how easy it is later in a game to really blow it out under those circumstances. Either way, it did hurt what chance of winning quite a lot. Sure the Dogs will be all good as the season progresses.
Melbourne should of been playing one of the other 7 sides that played last week. Having a game under their belt come round 1 was an enormous, unfair advantage.
Think it was wrong you guys played anyone who played last week. Dee having that game behind them last week is an enormous, actually unfair advantage.
Those 8 sides that played last week should have played another one of the 8 sides this week.
2-0 after round 1 at that too...haha. Only happened once before in 1979 when one round 3 game was played before round 1. That was us too after we beat Essendon. We were 2-0 after round 1 then too.
I'm gradually getting my 1981/82 mojo back, getting disappointed after wins like this.
12 months ago I'd have taken any win and said it was great....lol.
No. Charlie's brain fade went on the scoreboard by mistake as a point. Notice when Boyd kicked his point the scoreboard didn't change. After his shot, the scoreboard went down for a few seconds then come back up the same score. Heard the explanation on SEN this morning.
That would be about 1 pitch in 8. The other 7 times you should be batting, NZ fake green tops included. If we batted first we'd have won with alot less stress, much less excitement though....lol. Could have made 250, rolled them for 230 then set the game when the pitch went flat in the 3rd...
Side needs some gradual refresh before they all retire at once.
I think we need to look at the openers. We may need to "retire" them, or at least Smith depending on who is available (if only Pucovski could keep his head out of the way of a cricket ball). Marnus, out of form but will find it...
When you win a series with your best batsmen being the two all-rounders and the tail, that is unsustainable. We have no matches for 9 months, so all batting positions need to be made open and the side plays all the early Shield matches to earn their spot. The side needs a gradual refresh, even...
These circumstances, winning the match was first and foremost. Nothing else matters. One wicket and you never know. We play a team game. 4 down maybe different, not with the tail. I'm sure Carey will be very excited winning a game for his country 98no.
All we did was make it harder for ourselves. Fortunately, a couple got us there. Unless the pitch is a real juicy one, you always bat first. Same since cricket began many years ago. Like who doesn't know that. We got away with it. The smart ones will see that. I had to sit through the footy...
