    Whisk(e)y Thread!

I have a bottle of Aultmore of the Foggy Moss 12yo currently, very nice. Generally I try 1 or 2 bottles of something different in the $100 range a year, apart from that its looking for specials in the 55-60 range for general drinking. Singleton, Auchentoshan American Oak, Ardmore (slight peat...

Review Round 10, 2020 vs Western Bulldogs

Xaviers mark was incredible, wont be splooged over for days on end by the vic media like walsh's mark even though it was better imo. Zac, Mitch great stuff.

    2020 Formula One

The Diversity-Benz takes out diverse driver, again. Alex doesn't hold back when he gets a chance for a move, love it.

Player Watch Pick #12 (2018) - Zak Butters

He can hit targets kicking across the body while literally falling onto his arse. A unique blend of team first and "yeah that's right, Im gonna try this" flair.

    Iran Conflict 2019 - ??

Wasn't thinking in terms of votes heh. The above scenario is pretty much the worst outcome for Iran. No expanded ground presence to hit, yet having to take on the US air and its navy over the course of a few months. All outbound ships with weapons explosives for use in the region, stopped. All...

    Iran Conflict 2019 - ??

The US is begging Iran to give them a reason to hit them hard with airstrikes, not just once but multiple times. The "overt" retaliation from Iran was symbolic for them, they hit some bases, but US troops had warning and hid in their protected bunkers. No real damage done. (big difference...

Tatiana Cameltoederon was also a highlight.

    2019 Heineken Chinese F1 GP -

Ferrari had their chance to keep both cars in the fight for 3rd but for some reason didn't bring Leclerc in the lap after Seb. Its almost like they cant compute how to get the best from 2 cars, instead its how to use 2 cars to guarantee 1 cars result. At worst Charles would have been right...

Review Round 1 2019 vs Melbourne

The players, club and fans really needed that. :thumbsu: The 4 youngsters all have lightning hands, sometimes trying to be too slick but the instincts and ability are there. Cant wait for the first home game.

    Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun asylum.

Social media savvy young woman fleeing toxic patriarchy who just happens to have an ABC activist journalist barricaded with her in the hotel room. Almost textbook. Imagine how many more we could help if we just increased the ABCs budget. :D

Traded Chad Wingard [traded with future 3rd to Hawthorn for Burton, #15, #35 and future 4th]

He's not just a bloody good player even when supposedly paying poorly, he's proven to be physically durable. This is no "maybe if he can focus can be AA"... he has. Or "if only he could get fit and play some games"... apart from an occasional hammy strain he's been almost bullet proof. It...

    Do we need rule changes?

The game is fine. All of this change momentum is driven by media types who sometimes get a bit bored from being paid to cover some dud games now and then. If its about TV revenue....then give them another 10 seconds of AD time between goals....leave our game alone. TV execs need to own up to...

    F1 Championship - Round 16 - Russia

9PM EST. A quarter of the field with grid penalties, including both red Bulls. Watching the Renault garage footage.....having both Alain and Dans noses in the same confined space will be very interesting next year. The mechanics better practice ducking. :p

    2018 Supercars

Agree on some of the camera angles being too low, but the track itself is pretty damn good. Just going by TV coverage...that little fan section on the inside of turns 14/15/16 could use a stand and some facilities one day. A stand on the inside of the long long rights would be top spot too...

    Player Watch Pick #18 (2016) - Sam Powell-Pepper

His teammates know he has their back, and he gets up the opposition noses again and again, all while being as cool as a cucumber.

    Review Win for the ages

Days like that are why its worth going to the football no matter what. Really happy for Rockliff. I'm loving SPP's new more composed play that he has shown this year, less taking on the world and more deal with one threat and settle down for a give off. Contested players over low teen possie...

    China eyes Vanuatu military base

IF they agreed to having a Chinese military base, they will just be inviting any potential war to their doorstep. Keep in mind, once a base is established, it can and will be reinforced and expanded in any buildup to a conflict...Airstrips, Navy etc. It would literally become the frontline for...

SA 2018 South Australia Election - LIBERAL WIN

I'm happy with some change, even though Marshall is unconvincing. Its been 16 years, some good things have happened under Labor in that time (Adelaide Oval, north south corridor even though a lot of that money is federal etc), some not so good things.

South Africa's Parliament Votes to Confiscate White-Owned Land

Apart from some kind of one off special refugee intake (which would seem unlikely unless things turned mega nasty), we should accept none, especially if they use their relative wealth to buy passage through several airlines, countries and sea routes to lob up on Rottnest Island..... The queue...

    Another US mass shooting

Nothing will change. The right to bear arms in the constitution is almost Bible/koran type of scripture for so many people. There's fundies, reformists and mild realist believers all mixed in, both left and right. I have to admit...if I lived in the US, I would most likely own a hand gun of...

Stalingrad - 75th anniversary of the defeat of the German 6th Army

I have always found the battles within the battle to be most interesting. You could make a jaw dropping movie out of any of Mamayev Hill, Pavlovs House, the grain elevator, the factory district and many more. The one that always stuck in my mind was the fight for the main train station and...

AFLW AFLW 2018 - Round 1 - What you liked, learnt & hated

Early on in the Pies/Blues game I was happy to see better hands in close, shrugging a half tackle or arm slap still holding the ball for a release. The game went downhill in that regard as it went on. Maybe its just those 2 sides. Saturdays games were much, much, much better. Scrappy at times...

Society/Culture Greens vow to move Australia Day

That's nice. And yes a Republic Day would be the only decent alternative. But that's not something that's realistically near term. Until then, I think we are better off making Australia Day into a mourning/reflection/celebration day, where Aboriginal traditions and grief can be acknowledged...
