Of course it is. Check out Forty3’s post in the non discussion thread. Why would the Cats or Lions accept pick 8 when they can get pick 7 from Essendon?
It couldn’t be a pure pick swap involving our pick 8 as Essendon now have the collateral to trump us. If we can get a player to commit to us and us only, plus pick up the pies first rounder, then we can offer that first to Essendon for Saad and they’ll have little choice but to take it.
And if Carlton offered Williams the same deal as GWS he would be odds on to stay. It’s been reported that our offer was $800k with incentives to get to $900k. So why wouldn’t we offer an extra $50-100k to get him over, especially considering we have banked cap space that will evaporate if not...
Carlton have banked cap space so can spend 105% this year. If we don’t, it gets forfeited. Why wouldn’t you spend a bit more to attract players that fill a need? Depending on whether we were at 95% this year, we could have as much as $1.3 million available.
We have to take a few kids no matter what each draft, so we can’t ignore it. We have done it to death the past 5 years. It’s time to trade to fill holes in our list.
Think I’ve cracked the code. Tai - Tai Tuivasa from western Sydney who just won a UFC fight. Looking slimmer than usual while doing so. If he did yell go Blues, he definitely meant NSW Blues, not us.
That may have been a shot across the bow of Fisher. He might be “right under our noses” but they wanted to see if he bought in to the small forward role.
It would almost make sense to a team contending. They would want and need a replacement that could match that output immediately. Completely irrelevant in Essendons position, as they are in need of a complete rebuild. Unless they think they’re still in a position to contend?
Last season as a young Essendon player attempted to establish himself as a regular in John Worsfold’s side a senior player sidled up to him with a conspiracy theory.
As the veteran explained to the naive youngster, the players who had served 2016 drug bansunder Essendon’s peptides regime had...
You’re right. He was promoted to the “executive team” a couple of years ago. Still, he’s not going to be easily moved.
