Agree he's having a good year, but Foxtel commentary reaffirmed it's pathetic nature by stating:
"Nathan Eagleton is the Bulldogs most important player. Shut him down and you've got them."
FFS, he's good but in no way is he our most important player.
Slaps:
- Cal Ward. Best game he's played, very impressive.
- Higgo...to play like that after being under an injury cloud is mighty impressive.
- Ferocity in the first half. I was worried in the opening minutes, because Sydney were getting the stoppages which they like, but we were able to...
I was ready to say how much I disagree, because I thought it was going to be about opposition players we don't like.
But in regards to the umpiring, I agree booing does help. Knowing that the crowd is against you suggests that maybe you did make the wrong decision, and would push them...
Doesn't matter if they werent booing Aker around where you were sitting, they weren't doing it near me either. Could still hear it though.
There's a difference between a number of supporters (loud enough to hear around the ground) booing a player, compared to one supporter having a go at...
From what I recall, we didn't get a free kick in the third quarter (fairly sure we had 7 at half time, and still 7 at 3qtr time). Also interesting that Ray paid 7 free's to Geelong, 1 to us (from SEN). Thanks Razor
Not blaming them for the loss in any way though. We had chances...
I think it's safe to assume that most people who comment on the performances of players will have seen the game. If people havn't seen it, they normally say so. You seem to say "did you see the game?" to a lot of people who disagree with your opinion.
I was at the game, and perhaps after...
Agree with the poster who said Harbrow shouldn't be taking kick-ins. I don't understand it. He is clearly not comfortable kicking the 40-50m distances required from a kick-in, as shown by him stepping over the line trying to get as much distance as possible. IMO, the kick-ins should be taken by...
Agree. 12 kicks and 26 handballs, wasn't it? I would put Johnno in there, but that is biased. He was the reason we stayed in it in the first half...the play where he ran from half back to the forward line, getting one-two's as he went, showed his committment.
Selwood was great, I love...
5 Johnno (the inspirational captain we all know he can be, don't know how Mark Robinson left him out of the votes)
4 Aker
3 Hudson
2 Griffen
1 Eagle
3 Ward
2 Harbrow
1 Higgins
'The tougher Callan'?? Hahn is one of the toughest players in our team, and just started to get back into form last week. Sure he didnt kick 5goals, but his forward pressure was almost back to it's ferocious best. No point dropping him.
Out: Murphy, DFA
In: Higgins, Hargrave (assuming their...
Welsh and Hahn are important to the structure. Also not sure what the actual reasoning behind Higgo being dropped is...
If he's fit for next week, Gia out, Higgo in. Gia might have played alright for a bit, but he hasn't played well enough consistently and can be easily replaced.
I disagree. Gia really impressed me with his improvement last year, but it has been back to the coasting I used to dislike again this year.
Slaps:
- Coon and Murph are back. Great news.
- Eagle played a good game, decision making and kicking was great
- Fantastic to see Gilbee back to his...
Any chance of Welsh being a late inclusion? I know that he's not supposed to be ready for another few weeks, but otherwise I can't see any logical reason for including him in the squad of 25...
Gilbee is an interesting one...he has played some very ordinary football this year, yet he is never included with Gia, Johnno and Hahn in the calls for players to be dropped. I understand that Gilbs is a key player/playmaker, it's not like those 3 are un-important!
I'd say:
Hahn out for...
Yeh, Chris Grant isn't a club champion anymore either...hasn't even bothered to play for a few years now!
I replied to this thread earlier as though it was an Ins/Outs thread...my mistake.
Johnno should not be replaced as captain. Sure there are others, such as Boyd and Morris, who have...
Meant to say, wouldn't it have been a better poll if the question was "Who should captain in 2010?" with options of Johnno, Higgins, Boyd, Morris, Gia etc.?
5 Boyd
4 Harbrow (very impressive on Milne)
3 Hill (3goals again, only forward who shows any spark)
2 Minson (good contested marks...didnt know what to with it once he took them though)
1 Higgins
I'm not 100% sure Johnno needs to hand over the captaincy...but if he did, I'd pick from Morris or Boyd.
You said that Morris needs to talk more on the field, but from all accounts (Eade/Lake interview was example) he leads/organises the backline, and you would assume this isn't through hand...
Does that mean it's not opposite day?
Johnno should not be dropped. He is clearly underdone, but is still doing a lot more than Hahn and Gia. He may have got 4goals in junk time against the Blues, but he was still the one kicking the goals.
For mine, Hahn should be dropped for Skipper, and...
I like Geary, and Armitage is a talent.
In comparison, players not playing this week who may be in our best:
Cooney and Aker certain starters.
Welsh, Callan, Tiller (others?) maybes.
O'Keefe, Skipper, Reid, Wood (?) less likely/young.
Players in our 22 not performing, I won't make a...
