And it will be interesting to see how the Free Agency of VFL players goes. QAFL clubs would be mad to pay any more than token match payments to guys who don’t train with you often and you only get if they don’t get a game.
it’s obviously good for the VFL players and the VFL clubs not so good...
Match payment numbers on forums are always exaggerated.
With the current salary cap I’d be surprised if anybody is getting more than $250/$300 per game and I bet that’s about the number for retzlaff or maybe a little more, but not much.
as for Boston and Baxter I suspect they were the highest...
Enjoying the spirited debate all! I don’t see how Grange are a top 5 team or would have been last year if the NEAFL ran.
a fair way off the pace imo and my tip for the spoon. But I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong if they turn it around this year.
as for the SC teams Maroochydore were a...
The under 21's usually play the VAFA team and I read somewhere that there was a fixturing issue.
Shame they could not find another opponent. Even a representative team from the PHC or AFL Sydney could have been good. I am sure they would have tried to get a game for the under 21's.
Maybe I need to get a life but I just noticed that this week the 5 winners from round 1 play the 5 losers from round 1. If all results go a certain way you could have all teams on 1 win 1 loss after 2 games, or 5 teams undefeated and 5 yet to win. Either would be extremely rare.
If the...
He was not in their worst 5 for starters, and do you drop a test debutant if he makes a duck on a seaming wicket?
Silvagni/Scarlett whoever would have looked ordinary with the service the opposition forwards were getting.
GC only had 21 players. A couple of late withdrawals and it was too late to organise top ups. I know winning isn't their priority but they probably need to get more organised (emergencies etc) otherwise they may fall away pretty badly as they rest their young players.
Lab and Redlands a top...
Re: AFL Clubs want own reserves team in WAFL
I am a bit surprised that everyone is so dead against ressies teams in the WAFL. Here in QLD we have had both systems- the Lions used to farm their players out to QAFL clubs before the decision was made about 12 years ago to do a Lions reserves. The...
They will get 25-30 thousand I think. It is getting plenty of media up here. By the way contrary to what some people are thinking they are not giving away thousands of tickets. A few by radio competitions etc but its not like they are handing them out to schoolkids.
GC Suns Res v Mt Gravatt (by 8 goals)
Labrador v Redland (a close one-surely these AFL boys get them over the line by 3 goals)
NT Thunder v Aspley (by 10 goals if it actually gets played-or closer if wet-NT had benefit of proper hit out)
Morningside v Bris Lions Res (10 goals-Lions short of...
The ressies are playing against Mt Gravatt this Saturday at 12.30 pm at Merrimac Oval Broadbeach. Plenty of time to catch this before heading up to the Gabba.
Guaranteed that many players will be used in the AFL this year so I would suggest that many blokes playing this Sat in the 2's will...
I don't like the rule, its just one more complication to a game that is already hard to explain to new followers.
Personally I don't think it was broken-footy was good to watch last year leave it alone.
Even with NT at full strength Morningside comfortable winners.
Hard to get a read on Mt Gravatt. When I heard they had Scott, Proud, Grose and a couple of others I thought they would challenge. Losing Page, Hill and Head and a couple of others I can't remember, makes me think they probably...
If this foxtel comp gets a bit of state footy pride going then great.
As much as I hope you are right Wookie about the likes of Morningside and Ainslie being very competitive (or beating) against the traditional state teams, the likelihood is that the likes of Port Adelaide and West Adelaide...
s**t we need the season to start. No harm in footy forums I reckon and most people on this thread are pretty reasonable in their opinions.
I checked the foxtel guide and the Foxtel Cup game between Morningside and NT is being shown 4pm Sat QLD time on Fox Sports 1 and also being repeated a...
Good form on the preview anyway. Morningside comfortably for mine, and IMO Morningside will be the best side outside the traditional states VFL,SANFL and WAFL.
Why wouldn't you play a NT team and a QLD team in Adelaide? The top SANFL teams pulled out because the prizemoney not high enough-now they can find the dollars to move a game Interstate on short notice.
Expensive flights and hotels at short notice. They can find this money to help the Gabba...
