    Jumper clash fails

Carlton played a non "traditional" rival though. Watch it go back to 0 when they play Collingwood or Essendon, just like with the Richmond game.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Pick 18, Josh Weddle - Round 10, Rising Star!

Been to 2 open training sessions, and both times, Josh has been the last one to leave the track and head to the rooms after autographs. Just loves to spend time with the fans and kids. Has become my son's favourite player and mine too, just due to his attitude.

News Clubs operating league-sanctioned drug testing program - Harley Balic’s Dad Speaks

You'll be amazed at how creative the AFL can be. They can punish people and find them not guilty at the same time. Melbourne tanking anyone?
  4. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

The silence that comes from the media over this issue is deafening. It's no doubt a big issue, but there's 0 mention of it every year.
  5. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

The part you're missing here is that this matchup is not considered "a traditional blockbuster". Only matchups within the Big 4 get special exemption and highlights the AFL making special set of rules for "traditional" reasons.
  6. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

So Carlton vs Essendon was exactly how its always been. Essendon wear their clash vs Melbourne who have red and less navy, but don't against an all navy team. Make it make sense AFL.
  7. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

You've done it historically, but not in your most recent Dreamtime game. In 2022. Richmond's big yellow numbers help as viewers mostly see players backs or sides. Even the Channel 7 scorebug has to differentiate the two teams by using Yellow vs Red.
  8. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

They should keep a white strip for the umpires for instances where neither teams have it.
  9. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

All the clubs training or off field gear do this, so the apparel designers are well aware that the positioning of the logo matters. It produces a few stupid moments when players celebrate a goal and copy what they do overseas by kissing the badge. They end up kissing the sponsors. Here's an...
  10. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

Reason why it works well in soccer and most other sports is the club logo prominently featured in the expected spot of the shirt. AFL sold that spot to sponsors in the 80-90s and most clubs just never put their logo there. Should definitely be a thing we do now, to make alternative jumpers a...
  11. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

That's only because they played Adelaide. If they played one of the traditional 3, they'll be in black.
  12. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

Anyone get a screenshot/photo of the "melee"? Would've been 40 players all close together and barely able to tell the teams apart.
  13. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

It's such a mess when you're watching them running with their backs to you or the camera. Black with white numbers is all you can see.
  14. Hawthorn United

Retro Jumper Competition - return of the BIG HAWK JUMPER

Apparently Retro Round will be Round 19 this year. July 29-31. So I'll assume they'll announce the winning jumper weeks before this.
  15. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

This game is going to be terrible. Our gold back vs GWS Orange back.
  16. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

Wonder what jumper both teams will wear in GWS vs Hawthorn. We normally have a bad clash.
  17. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

A bit but when you include the context that they didn't remove their black for red, against an all navy team, but decided to do it for a game against navy and red, then it's dumb. Melbourne are about 25% red too.
  18. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

Just to add to it, Collingwood have added red sponsors logo.
  19. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

Surprised to see Essendon wear their clash against Melbourne, considering they don't against Carlton. Wearing all red vs Melbourne almost makes it worse.

No Oppo Supporters General AFL discussion and other club news

What the hell is wrong with AFL YouTube or highlights. They spoil the result in the title and thumbnail. They were already doing it to the match highlights, but now noticing it for their "Last Two Minutes" too.

  22. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

Even Hawthorn will clash, as we usually do against GWS. Brown and Gold doesn't go well against Charcaol and Orange.
  23. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

Richmond's black and yellow only clashes with navy blue, red and yellow it seems. Black vs black is fine. The clashing scorebug tells you everything.
  24. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

It's not even as simple as that as the AFL has allowed clubs to have jumpers which are both light and dark. How do you design a clash around that? Clubs are too fearful from using colours which aren't theirs. There needs to be a 3rd jumper option, with a colour scheme that doesn't exist on...
  25. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

I don't think North have one. Both their home and away jumpers are white with blue stripes. The away has the bounding kangaroo. Their store has a blue jumper but it looks like a training one.
  26. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

I'm old enough to remember the media making a big deal with the trainers causing a clash, which is why they now wear fluro vests. That was when it was a Carlton vs Hawthorn game, so navy vs brown. But black vs navy is ok.
  27. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

"Tradition". "Leave the jumper alone!" But be quiet about sponsors being added to more places on the jumper.
  28. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

The annoying thing is they're so inconsistent with it. Carlton have a clash jumper, but they just won't wear it against "traditional" sides who they actually clash with. I wonder how this AFL23 game is going to handle these jumper clashes. Imagine trying to play a game with these jumper selections.

Player Watch Jaeger O'Meara: 4 more years.

Agreed with everything you did today and back in 2016, my thoughts were similar. Lewis and Mitchell going were required, but if we did that, we needed to go all in with rebuilding. JOM at the end of 2016 was a huge risk and we paid way too much in terms of picks. Most Hawthorn people were...
  30. Hawthorn United

    Jumper clash fails

GWS vs Hawthorn is going to be a clash for sure.
