Prediction Changes: Round 3 Vs Adelaide

If Draper can’t handle Burgess, he probably shouldn’t even be on the list. I’d rather let him go without an opponent than move a 20 year old KPF who’s finally working out how to play the position down back into an entirely new role.

    Preview 2024 Round 2 Freo v Roos

Yeah I reckon it’s more about keeping our structure and getting games into someone than about North actually having decent forwards. Seems like they’ll probably debut a guy in Tyler Sellers. The question is whether he replaces Coleman-Jones or they go tall and play both. If it ends up that...

    Preview 2024 Round 2 Freo v Roos

I doubt they change plan and go with two rucks now, Reidy will no doubt be named in the squad again as cover for an injury. But that’s it. If I had to guess, I think Taberner gets the first shot ahead of Voss. And personally I’d go with Davies ahead of Draper as a defender. Leave Young in the...

Prediction Rd 1 (you know: the first round after the opening round) team

I really don't see it happening, but Reidy should play. It's not a question of who the best ruck is, but the question should be why did we recruit Jackson. And that was to be a forward/ruck/impact mid, someone who can generate mismatches wherever he goes. I think we lose a lot more everywhere...

    2023 young talent time

I’d have ranked Delean’s forward craft as second to only Nick Watson in the draft pool. He’s equally as good in the air as on the ground, and really is that throwback stay at home forward pocket. It’s only his athletic profile that saw him available at our final pick.

    2023 young talent time

I've seen a few games this year. Looks a decent young player, I know Woodville is pretty excited about his prospects. There's a few similarities with another Woodville player in James Rowe who spent a couple of years with Adelaide. Busy little player, above average speed, natural around goal...

Draft Expert 2023 Young Talent Time

Walsh was one I had just outside my top 50. I would have preferred Fremantle drafted him instead of Odin Jones, but no club has asked for my opinions for a reason… I’ve always said I’d rather a 195cm guy who can mark than a 200cm guy who can run. No player ever really learns to become a strong...

Draft Expert 2023 Young Talent Time

It’s nice when I talk up a Fremantle pick. Means I don’t have to go back and edit my posts. I did like Ollie Murphy. All year I had him in the 15-20 range. And I thought his game would best translate to being a #1 KPD of all the talls on offer. I did get sucked in a bit by his slow testing, so...

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft - The Late Male Edition

My preference today would be a half back like Clohesy. And then to trial some talls like Odin Jones over summer for the final rookie spot/supplemental pick. But for a rookie spot, it’s hard to be too unhappy whichever way we go.

Toast Welcome To Freo Ollie Murphy (pick 41 2023 AFL Draft)

    Much better than Archer Reid.

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft - The Late Male Edition

For all the complaining about forwards, I like Cooper Simpson as a half forward. Just because FoxFooty says mid it doesn’t mean that’s all he is. I think the forward half is where he spends the next couple of years. Moves well and hits the scoreboard. And maybe we can finally stop trying to...

Draft Expert 2023 Young Talent Time

Nothing has really changed for us. There wasn’t really anyone in the frame for our picks who went early. Doubt we’d have left last night surprised. Mitch Edwards is the obvious name for us. It sounds like we want him. So we’ll see how it falls and I said on the Fremantle board that I don’t...

Game Day 2023 AFL Draft - The Late Male Edition

I don’t think we can necessarily discount us just taking Edwards at 38 if he’s our top rated player. It certainly sounds like we want him. It’s at least a possibility rather than waiting. If we have earmarked someone like Loch Rawlinson as the small forward target for example, then maybe we’d...

    2023 young talent time

I think the whole reason Curtin isn’t a lock for North or Hawthorn is because teams are of the belief he’s more of an intercepting third tall - potentially a very good one like a McGovern or Sicily. But not a true KPP or mid.

    2023 young talent time

Not sure I've seen it mentioned on here yet, there's some talk we might be looking at placing a late bid on Harvey Thomas - a 176cm small forward/midfielder from the GWS Academy. He fits what we tend to look for - good decision making, neat ball user. He's more shifty than fast, also pretty...

Nice work. I gave your title a slight edit. This amount of work deserves more eyes on it.

Teams Cleveland Browns - GPODAWUND [sic]

It’ll just be restructured indefinitely. Salary cap and cash spending is the one thing we do better than most. Whether someone agrees with the trade cost is another thing, but the contract isn’t the issue most think it is.

Draft Expert 2023 Young Talent Time

Walter is one of the best in years, so that’s something. I think other KPPs are going to be drafted higher than they should be because the options are slim. I wouldn’t take Croft in the first round. I think Reid, Dawson and Zakostelsky will all be drafted a round earlier than they should be. I...

    2023 young talent time

Arguably the best kick off each foot in the draft. As classy as it gets. He struggled with a hip all year. Never really got going and struggled for any sort of consistency. Also played too deep forward in bad sides. I don’t think there’s any work ethic concerns. He’s laconic looking on field...

    2023 young talent time

There’s probably only going to be around 55 picks though. A team like St Kilda could say okay we’ll draft Mannagh with our last pick - it just so happens their last pick is probably going to be in the early 40s. I’m not saying he goes in the top 25 or anything. But it’s harder to predict when...

Draft Expert 2023 Young Talent Time

My rankings in the OP are up to date. I’m happy letting others handle the daily postings though. Overall, I think it’s an even draft outside the top 15 - quality is probably about average. Good depth in half backs and rucks, some decent KPDs and a smattering of small forwards to keep teams...

Threadmarks: Mini Draft Pick 14 - Phoenix Hargrave

Pick 14 - Phoenix Hargrave 181cm mid out of South Adelaide. Won the MVP award in the U18 competition this year. Really strong in the contest, but a good enough outside game too. That’ll probably be the key next year - outside spread and goals so he has that point of difference over other...

Threadmarks: Mini Draft Pick 5 - Levi Ashcroft

I hope Fremantle fans aren't hoping for any local WA talent next year... 2024 Pick 5 Fremantle - Levi Ashcroft Since bids aren't being matched, I guess I'll just take the F/S option here. I'd say he's the most well rounded player in this draft at the moment. Shares a lot of similarities with...

BigFooty Official 2023 Bigfooty Phantom Draft

Suspect this draft goes nothing like the real thing, because all but 1 of my top 50 were picked up - Bodie Ryan. Usually my rankings are way off what the clubs actually do. I am expecting things to vary a lot more. Some of the others I liked as national draft chances were Matt Carroll, Reece...

    2023 young talent time

If it’s with Gold Coast, I imagine it’ll just be for points. Something like #24 (785 points) for #34 (542 points) and #46 (331 points). I’m not sure about trading a future first, especially for picks outside the top 25. Seems like it would defeat the purpose of bringing them in. I’d rather keep...

    2023 young talent time

I'm not sure it's the year to go all in with an emphasis on WA players. The exception for me would probably be Riley Hardeman. I suspect we'll have him very high on our board and would be the one we look to trade up into the 15-20 range for. I'd also consider the same for Lance Collard, if he...

    2023 young talent time

For me, Zakostelsky is the type of player you’d love as a rookie - and might be intrigued enough by to get in first and take from 40-50 onwards. I struggle to see him being worth any more than that. He’s basically just a tall who can run. Outside of playing as an undersized ruck, he has little...

Threadmarks: Pick 58 - Tom Anasastopoulos

I suspect the draft will be well and truly over by now, and Fremantle won't have this pick now that we've signed Oscar McDonald. But I'll take it anyway, treat it like a rookie pick... Pick 58 Fremantle - Thomas Anastasopoulos (177cm small forward, Geelong Falcons) I had Bodie Ryan as my...
