    2018 Draft thread

Fagan has tried to get him each offseason since he arrived in Brisbane, so no doubt they’d be having a conversation.

Stackelberg is tough and loves to compete, he’s hard not to like. He maybe lacks a bit of polish and I get the feeling he may be a bit more developed than others and hence why he seems to be so good physically. Rookie list would be a good result for him I think. McFayden looks like the modern...

Couple who might turn out to be useful AFL standard players, but no top end talent to get excited about. Coleman has some nice attributes no doubt, his testing numbers will play a big factor in where he ends up ranked I think, in particular his aerobic capacity. I’m a McFayden fan and I like...

Agree with this. Strong group of players, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into potential AFL players. Still a bit of time to play out, but I’m not sure if we’ve got any elite prospects in this group. We’re yet to produce an elite midfielder from the academy. Been a long while since a gun...

Young GC defender got the better of Ballenden yesterday. He needs to get in an afl environment asap IMO, seems content with one effort leads, no follow up efforts and not crashing through packs. I'm not sure playing against kids his own age is a of benefit right now. Not many other standouts...

On Grewar, he should push for a promotion early I'd say. He's not a pure midfielder like Barrett, he's only moved into an inside role in the past two seasons and it's really helped his contested game. He's got really good agility and is a good runner. I think he ran a sub 3 20m sprint in his...

Mature age from Redlands, had a dominant couple of years in the neafl. We jumped in before the Pies did, they were committed to taking him,

    2016 Draft discussion

Agree with a lot of what you said. It's his potential which I think is attractive, and his skill set is the sort which is becoming a high commodity. I think the team that picks him up tries to develop him at half back to get his run from behind the footy. The fact he's come from the clouds a bit...

I'm a bit higher on Bowes than you two. My only hesitation with Scheer is I think he's had a mature body vs kids his own age..which makes me question how much development he has. What'd you think of Williams in those games? I keep hearing it's likely he'll be the next Qlder picked after those...

Why do you rate Brodie Quigley? Admittedly I only saw him 3 times this year. My impression was a good Inside/clearance player who doesn't get big number and doesn't show an ability to spread to the outside very well. Very good at getting first hands on the footy at a stoppage.

I've spoken about most of the Qld guys in depth here during the year, so won't rehash old ground. Allison - Quigley's analysis was interesting. Qld tried to play his as an inside mid to improve his contested game and see if he could churn out high numbers, but it's just not his go. To me, he...

Just about every draft our recruiters pick someone in the 20's that nobody has really heard of. They've also I think shown a distinct like towards third tall types, who are good runners and have positional flexibility.

2016 Trade/FA discussion (no hypothetical trades)

I know where you're coming from, but I can't say I'm with you on this one Quigs. The concerns you raised are valid, and I think they're the major concerns of most clubs, but there's too many good traits. If he adapts to the running side of AFL footy I think everything else projects nicely. Ive...

Late-rookie pick now. He simply hasn't developed much since 16's. Is a good solid player who does a lot of things quite well, but just doesn't have standout qualities that make you think he will adjust to AFL.

I'm a Himmeberg fan too Quigs, had a season ending injury half way through the year playing for Redlands. I like him up forward.

I'm not against giving him a shot as a rookie for a year, it's a free swing. I'm saying given his lack of exposure at senior level, it's a big risk to carry him as a 3rd ruck option.

2016 Trade/FA discussion (no hypothetical trades)

Id be hoping we're still chasing a ruck. I wouldn't be relying on a category b rookie off a tv show as the third in line. The bloke has played a couple of VFL games. The highest level he's played in qld is effectively div 3.

2016 Trade/FA discussion (no hypothetical trades)

Watched Witts in the VFL a bit, he's good in the ruck contest because of his size, but other than that has nearly no impact around the ground and really struggles to run out Games. Can't have that in modern day footy

I'm fairy sure Swann has indicated his work will be done in Brisbane when the club is stable and settled. Which obviously has no date attached, but he's indicated he won't be around forever.

Saw all of Ballendens QAFL games and Qld games this year. He is super talented, the potential is glaringly obvious to IMO. He's got legitimate size and will fill out to be a big man. Moves well and takes everything in his hands, his ability to take the ball at the highest point is much like...

I said it before the combine invites, but I think Rolls' sitting in the overall pecking order is about right. Not often we disagree Quigs, but I don't think his kicking is elite. He's very conservative with his disposal and decision making, and lacks a yard of pace. He has struggled finding a...

Lots of talk about Allison and Rolls slipping down the order. I was big on Allison, he has all the tools of a modern day footballer. Qld tried to play him more as an inside mid this yet a to improve his contested footy work, so I'm not too concerned as the other tools are there. Rolls I think is...

2nds 2016 Lions reserves and NEAFL thread

Keays has been good the last few weeks, and he works very hard. But despite his big possession numbers, I still don't think he's knocking down the door. His disposal has very limiting hurt factor and his long kicking is poor. He's very conservative with his decision making as a result of this...
