The Roar - Carlton v Adelaide
This is an excellent summary of the game, especially highlighting Rankine’s elite running - over 14 k’s for the game, burst speed we’ve been lacking, 6 marks inside 50 + 3 goals, fastest player on the ground at 32.5 km/h, etc…..
Adelaide finally put Rankine, Rachelle, Berry etc in the guts for a large portion of the game, and what do you know, we beat Carlton away. We need more depth but our young players are looking OK. Michallaney excellent, Jones improved, Worrall strong, Soligo (absolute star in the making)...
Lol. Burst speed, ability to break lines, ability to kick over 35-40 metres, are 2 massive flag-winning factors in premiership midfields.
The 3 port players can all do that. Soligo can't. Again - you've got NO IDEA saying he's the best player in Adelaide.
Have a look at Port's win over Essendon...
Nicks is part of the problem but certainly not the full picture.
Take a look at our recruiting over the last 6 years and you may start to get some idea of why our list is where it is.
We have about 8-10 AFL standard players.
But we also have:
Chayce Jones
Sam Berry
Lachy Murphy
Ben Keays
Ned...
Yes they will do us. But Gawn won't annihilate O'Brien. Gawn will beat him around the ground due to his superior marking but O'Brien has become a clearance machine in close, getting 9 clearances on his own against Geelong. He is also ahead of Gawn for Hitouts and Hitouts to advantage - O'Brien...
This game ONCE AGAIN showed we have wasted 5-6 (actually 20) years drafting everything except what wins flags - elite midfielders.
Our last decent midfield was Ricciuto Goodwin McLeod Edwards. They finished nearly 20 years ago.
This isn’t all on Nicks at all. It’s on f****** Reid and Ogilvie!
I was replying to your original point, which was that Gaff was outrun by Fogarty, like that's pathetic.
Lots of players will be outrun by the Fog. He's bloody quick.
OK so can someone refresh me on why we didn't nominate Luke Edwards as F-S?
Only thing I can see is Tyson's weird behaviour towards the club after he retired. But he was touted as a first round pick on 2020 and we didn't even nominate him. Seems bizarre. Or maybe he's just not that good! All...
If they had any kind of ability to acknowledge when an opposition player does something good/impressive in any sport, we wouldn't hate them so much. But they just can't.
You realise Adelaide were without Lynn (2nd highest run scorer in the BBL this season) and Overton (Highest wicket taker in BBL this season)? Bottom line is Adelaide outsmarted Perth bowling all spin and executed brilliantly.
