EFNL do have 4 x 10 then a 1 x 7 so I don't think they would say no to 3 extra clubs which would give a neat 5 grades of 10.
I said ages ago that I could see footy going the way of YVCA cricket and being absorbed into EFNL with effectively 2 grades that were essentially "YV only" although clubs...
I think it was a case of Warrandyte letting Surrey Park look better. SP certainly improved but there was a distinct lack of pressure from Warrandyte. A number of times SP would fumble the ball / drop marks etc. within the space of 1 min / 2 mins but no effort at making them pay by Warrandyte...
I have always said (from an employment perspective) that the true worth of a person is often best measured once they've retired or resigned. Things can run really well once they're there but they've only done a really good job if they can leave and the place still runs really well. If it falls...
Probably not as much "taken over" but I think you'll find that most Wesburn juniors live quite close to Warby. It's just a natural alignment with most of the kids wanting to play closer to home and Warby being the final destination for most of them. Any kids living near Junction are choosing...
I don't want to reveal my sources but talking to a current player a few days ago who said there are about 20 registered players at the moment. He also said no way is he playing ressies and seniors every week. Talking to another existing player yesterday who said that none of them can see it...
Wasn't some sort of resolution passed a few years ago whereby the individual clubs handed their voting rights to the Commission? I thought the league might ask the thoughts of clubs but at end of the day decided themselves.
Not unexpected in U12's but not for seniors. Plus, Thornton had effectively been in palliative care for 2 years. Not coming off the back of 2 flags.
Doggies - in the main people aren't hoping they fall over. In fact most see it better for the league for them to continue. Peoples frustration...
I've travelled to Powelly cricket also but not so recently - this was in last few seasons of YVCA. Their team played in the 4ths and smashed everyone each week but they refused to go up to 3rds as it was easy to sit back in a lower grade and collect flags (a theme???). Our team (like most 4ths)...
Many years ago at SFL there was an issue with Mt Waverley. Players wanted a mass walkout but club refused because they said they would have to fold if that happened so they refused the clearances. Players then said they would retire instead. As such the club folded because there were no players...
I saw that on FB last night and it got me thinking. Hopefully it doesn't happen but if the club did fold, how does the clearance process work? If a club refuses a clearance does it just mean they can't play for anyone? I guess going into recess is a first step before just folding and the...
People aren't hoping for it. They're just watching it happen. Losing a club doesn't help anyone but it's just a shame that a well used recipe was followed...
