Universal Love Player Numbers – 2024 update (sponsored by Tulip)

McVee is a star. The next Nick Smith, the Sydney variety rather than 426. Glad he got a good number. The wait is over! He cares :footy:

Rose tinted specs. We were never primed for finals under Neitz and Neale, regardless of the fact that we weren't as good as other teams.

He actually is for a young KPF. Uses his leap well. I agree overall though. Don't mind JVR rucking provided there's someone else tall down there. If its JVR and the mozzie fleet though, hard pass on him rucking for any extended period.

Doesn't mean much, but it tickles me that every single player in the first round is compared to an elite footballer, aside from Windsor who plays like Justin McInerney and Tholstrup who plays like Cam Rayner. I want to believe that our good recruiting will continue, but I also wouldn't be at...

Opinion Pick 6* – who do you want?

Good for him for saying it in advance, though I daresay it'll be quickly forgotten in the #VICBIAS discussions. Imagine West Coast will be thinking about trading out of next year's first round now.

"We've been starved of success for so long" My guy took a sabbatical in 2021. I don't think any club has ever benefited from the board being white-anted in public. Just attention seeking flogs.

Or maybe a pandemic happened that stopped people entering Perth from Melbourne, and vice versa, for the bulk of two years?

I swear AFL fans absolutely love changing rules season by season, and then complaining that rule changes happen too often. It makes literally no difference at all as to whether a deal gets done or not.

Remember that this was pick 5, but will be pick 7 because of FA and academies. Why would that not happen again next year? We'd be, at best, trading a few spots up at the expense of a year's development.

Borlase, Kreuger, Fantasia, Highmore, Crozier would all be worth a look IMO. Particularly the first two as KPP's who could pay a role if they can stay injury free.

I hope and imagine the club is doing things about this behind the scenes, and I don’t expect we will hear about it because it’s a behind the scenes thing. We’ll know either way within a few weeks next season.

He clearly meant “adversity happens at most clubs but we will get through it” when he was asked about whether we would sink next year? I’m honestly not sure what else he could say?

They asked him to speak to Clayton and remind him why he should make it work at Melbourne. The absolute relish with which almost every poster here has stuck the boot into every crevice over the last 24 hours is stunning.

Is this a typo or a really clever pun on the state of the wipers? Legit tho, nobody would sue for defamation over that because who really cares? Makes him look like a child.

love supporting the Melbourne footy club :rainbow: Will be open season now on secrets that journos have closed ranks to preserve. Between Clarry and Smith, it is public interest rather than private stories. Would not be surprised if we started next year with a new coach at the very least

Salem and Aish - "pretty good" Some highs, some lows. Less than you'd hope for from 7-10 picks but better than the average in reality.

Boyd, Billings, KK, Scharenberg, Freeman - what a top 9. Aish and Salem have been pretty good over the journey. Only two really good players in there.

Player Watch #14: Jack Billings – traded from St Kilda

He fits the profile of what people on here have been calling for. Left field, imperfect, cheap and has a very specific skillset. Hopefully he's able to be a solid, Hunter-esque contributor for 50 games, finding targets from half forward.
