I'm an AFL member and they are saying allocation exhausted all bar back section of top tier. Anyone have any idea if this is BS or legit? What would be expected crowd for this game 70k maybe? I can't see AFL being full....
Say want you want about players missing or whatever, but fact of the matter is we were up by 22 points at 3 quarter time on our home ground.
It was an insipid last quarter. I can't help but think we got beaten by a team that wanted to win more.
We have too many guys that don't seem desperate...
Well, I'm sure they are told not to man up, so I don't see it as that much of a stretch.
And if you read my post, I suggested another possibility, which was they are told but simply don't think they need to apply pressure. Based on CS reaction to the tackle count, this option is probably most...
Don’t think it’s that complicated. Too many players not prepared to do the tough stuff.
Unfortunately it starts at the top.
When Danger/Selwood/Duncan/Guthrie only have 4 tackles between them, you’ve got problems. Either they are being instructed to not apply defensive pressure, or they don’t...
I hope we field the strongest team we can and don't think we can afford to rest anyone. Either you are good to go or you're not.
Forget this idea of resting players for a prelim... anyone underestimating the Hawks right now needs their head checked. Sure, we look the stronger team given how the...
This is getting messy. I really hope it isn't true. He has shown enough to go another year and it is no secret that he wants to.
Of course we love all the players (especially the older ones) and never want to see them retire. That's the role of the fans.
But the people at the club who are paid...
Disappointed with the result, but hardly surprising.
This is about the level we have been at all year and I can't believe some people are so shocked by drawing with St Kilda. They are side in transition who produce some pretty good football at times - in other words, no different to us. Our...
Oh boy... really woeful selections being made by the match committee.
We have Smedts, who needs AFL game time and has played OK, being dropped. Meanwhile we have Cockatoo, who needs VFL playing time and hardly finds the ball, holding his position.
We have Horlin-Smith, who needs to be tested...
I'd give him another game in the VFL and then start him on the field the following week. He hasn't been waiting this long to be the sub!
Not worried about him coming in against the better teams either. All AFL games are tough and he likes the pressure anyway.
I actually don't think that first part is bad advice.
And I agree with almost everything you've posted. My point is just that the kind of attitude I quoted is feeding the problem, not helping it.
I wouldn't boo Goodes because all booing is kind of petty, but...
Have you ever considered that people are booing because they keep being told they are red neck bogans who should shut up? If you ever want someone to do something, tell them not to. It works like clockwork. I don't know who the...
Thought we played pretty well across the board and controlled the game most of the time. Good to see some of defenders bounce back - seemed to be much more organised today, especially in the first half.
Enjoyed seeing Chris Scott deliver a spray too. Walker took a slight backward step when the...
Sure, but in those games he did play I thought he was best 22. I wouldn't have dropped him, so I think it's fair to bring him back into the side given that form until proven otherwise. I think Stokes should go out because he doesn't add that much and isn't part of the future (still love him)...
I agree almost entirely with Patridge.
Smedts must play this weekend. Not only because he is younger than Stokes (although this is part of it), but because he has shown in games this season that he is best 22.
I would have liked to see Geelong make a stand on this one. Who cares if it was worth one week or two weeks or whatever.
We are not there to make things easier for the MRP and their BS standards.
Challenge to show the supporters that the club is actually unhappy about this.
OK, well I suppose we just disagree on the quality of the player.
Currently he can't get a game, so I recognise the odds aren't in my favour. But on the other hand, he has played half as many games as Caddy or Guthrie, and his stats shape us well against theirs. Especially when it comes to...
Fair enough. But some of the older players you mentioned just won't get dropped and to be perfectly honest I don't think they should. Maybe 1 or 2. But I would also like to see some of the younger guys who have had a sustained run this season rotated out. Gregson is one - would it hurt him to go...
At a minimum, it would take a terrible season next year (i.e. bottom four). Even then unlikely. He has responsibility for rebuilding the side. Scott is not the problem anyway.
He's played pretty well against us for a battler. In fact, I'm sure he's beaten out captain on a few occasions.
And our midfield is full of strugglers right now, so I reckon a battler is exactly what we need.
At least he knows how to be accountable.
I watched this fairly closely last night. Hawk does get in the lead but he is rewarded probably 25% of the time. We either don't kick it to him or just fail to execute.
As for the loose man, the problem is we can't play through our free man because he is positioned in our defensive 50. Usually...
Another disappointing game obviously.
We were losing earlier in the year because we just weren't good enough; right now we are losing not only because we are not good enough, but also because we are playing lazy, selfish and dumb football. Far too many players out there last night were just...
Not sure if this is quite the right thread, but... does anyone know the contract status of Will Langford?
He has been in and out of the Hawks team this year, and he seems to me to be exactly the kind of player we need. I'm sure some hate him, whatever, but I would much prefer we recruit a...
Yep, very precious by most on this board. I didn't mind the OP... it was hardly harsh. That point about the British bulldog manoeuvre was spot on. Read the post as just an idea for a player who has shown he is very good forward of centre, so might be more effective in that position.
And then...
