2024 is now the year of working through players and tactics. We have no chance of advancing with these injuries. But we can try out players and see what we have whilst speeding their development. Still reckon we should beat the Eagles, but this is getting ridiculous.

The injuries will destroy our season. They do allow is to play the kids and build to the future. And mean we get a 'better' pick. If some players go FA then there is some sort of chance of a good compo pick. AFL will make sure it is round 15 though.

5 years seems rich. He will play well for 5 more years. Maybe 5 years if they pay a bit less, but more years. Overall, as much as I like him, I see him moving on an us advancing our rebuild as probably a better option

KMac and Pickett do the job and are reliable. They are not our future. But until someone pushes them out, or there is a decision to remove them then they will stay.

It'll be interesting to see what we do. And of course with Tassie coming in (120K members!!). If our tassie boys do come on and want to go home they will have extra currency in 2027. We could end up with a serious draft pick rebuild without necessarily begin bottom 5 for years.

Trade some experienced players. But retain as much as you can whilst rebuilding. That way you shorten the rebuild and improve he development of the kids and transfer the successful culture. No one is trading for Grimes or Prestia. Martin I really hope stays. If we traded Baker, OK. Not happy...

I am all for getting a serious draft hand. And I am even more for keeping a heap of leadership and experience in the squad. Completely agree. You get in kids who mature - some more than others. Quite often young players are dills, who then mature into high quality adults. Quite often the dills stay as dills. That is a huge difference to the US system. They leave colleges at 22ish, and so you have a decent lead on...

You have to have the A grade core to win it all. But after that it is about having good AFL talent and using them well. Every contending team should have at least 25 AFL quality players, so then it is all about the coaching and team cohesion + tactics. But premierships are won by the best 'team'...
