Not concerned at all for Cooly.... gee I remember getting smashed by Cooly when they won flags in the early 2,000's when they had a big money gun list including Fridge, Cook etc.. they played in 5 grand finals in a row and won two flags. They'll be back...all the coast teams will do it tough for...
I went and had a look at grange vs mayne... not a bad game either. Although it was slippery from the dew at night there was some pretty hard and fast footy played.
Mayne were harder at it and first to the footy for the first half of the game and Grange looked a bit soft in the midfield...
ok lets be honest about the free kick Maroochy were unfairly given by AFLQ last year:
At a meeting of clubs it was confirmed by the league that no club that was unfinancial (had not paid league fees) would participate or HOST finals.
Maroochy (after racking up big debt trying to buy a flag...
Didn't see it as Marto having a shot, more that Wilson picked up that Grange lost their ruckman to injury and Pettit might be available.... Would hope he comes back to Sandgate though. He is being a bit of a sook.
Palmy, Noosa, Magpies, Surfers, Grange, Mayne were all pretty confident about...
If NEAFL reserves teams play SEQAFL Div1 senior teams....who do SEQAFL Div1 reserves teams play against??? Maybe Div2 Senior sides?? Then where do their Ressies play...and so on..
Also would mean SEQAFL reserves and seniors play at different grounds. Would never work!! not enough volunteers to...
wasn't referring to Jackson specifically but he is a great example! Do you know if there is an agreed formula enforced across the board by AFL or AFLQ or is this a "gentlemans agreement" made between Morningside and Magpies??
In the case where the draftee moves to a Div1 club from a lower div....does the money go to the Div2 or Assoc club that developed the kid from age 6 through to 16/17 or the Div 1 club that has him for a year before he gets drafted??
Plenty of ammunition for Grange in all this which I'm sure will be noted...
They have obviously been a bit flat later in the year but surely Sandgate qualify for this tag as well??
Grange results against finals teams:
beat Sandgate by 15 points at home, lost by 12 points at Sandgate,
beat Noosa...
Luke is a great player... but playing coaches surely are a thing of the past???
Absolute gun player and bloke which any club would love to have and a great leader but winning strike rate (like most other playing coaches) ????? ouch.
Surely the PHC standard is now beyond playing coaches??? and...
Please expand on how the future looks bright Luke??? I'm not dismissing what you say but you play at Everton Juniors ground and the facilities are about Div 4 standard at best.
Your club is not located in its traditional heartland so is further disconnected from its history every year, be...
ok...ummm...yep might as well not worry about finals, just schedule the GF now with Noosa and PBC in it then.
A couple of questions for you my learned colleague:
Specifically what do you mean by "Long is a cat"?
Which players of the "too many injuries" to "Sangate" will cripple them?
Which...
How much would the Gorillas be lovin everyone writing them off!! Marto would be giggling.
Not sure why either as they have been missing quite a few over the last 3-4 weeks which would explain their "pre-finals" flat spot from what I can see (McMahon, Pardew, Moir) and this is the same team that...
Re: AFLQ Premier Division
haha...tanking - interesting concept!! Could only happen if the club involved knew how the draw was worked out...couldn't happen ....could it??
But your point is valid about the draw and how much better a ten team comp would be. I think all clubs except one...
Re: AFLQ Premier Division
Geez there is a lot of whingeing about the draw from some at Lemke rd....banking up the hard luck stories already!!.. The draw is fair enough as with 11 teams and byes it was always going to be uneven, not sure what the league was sposed to do?!?. Grange finished 7th...
yep I was there. disapointing by sandgate, probably should have blown grange away in the first quarter when they had plenty more chances but a few unlucky misses. Then some injuries cost them too so wouldn't read too much into it. sandgate will improve plenty on that effort whereas grange were...
anyone get to the 20/20 carnivals at the weekend ?? What can we guess about clubs prospects this year based on these games (if anything???)
Noosa apparently looked alright but that was from Noosaboy!! Anyone else see anything?
shyeah....clubs will be busting to send their best teams on the trek up to Noosa to play, cool down, warm up again, play again and trek home for the glory of winning the "We Can Pretend We Are Like The AFL But Deep Inside Know We are Mickey Mouse Flood Relief Cup"!!
Premiers:Sandgate
Wooden Spooners: Mayne
League Medal: Faulkner (Mayne) will get consolation 2 or 1 in every game is that enuff?
Biggest Improver from 10: AFLQ building at Yeronga
Biggest Slider from 10: Magpies carpet
Goal Kicker: Lobb...for some sucker club in country Vic
Most under-rated...
people move to Brisbane too bro  even Sandgate!!!;)
nothing stoppin the club from playin them if they play a bunch of their own kids as well to come under points total - good for development of young players and the game........cos I'm pretty sure not too many O&M, VCFL etc gun players...
yeah it was pretty perceptive to look at the qfl web site
great comp...by the results going on who has beaten who, Cooly should be flag favourites!!:D:D
Whisper that a $200K salary cap would be involved which would price most clubs out of the market.
I'm tipping included will be already financially strong clubs with big clubhouses and lots of pokies - Southport and Aspley
...and then AFL will help "strategic" clubs to be involved - Noosa...
Mayne and Sandgate according to this forum!!! ha ha.
Who would know seriously until about round 5!! no-one tells who they have picked up - except Noosa on their web site, but they have lost Hicks, Tyrrell and a few others...
be good if the league put up the "clearances" link on the AFLQ page...
Yep...well I agree that it is a shame when a club loses a good player for this type of reason.... and it is never really personal between the players as you say more like club and player moving in different directions - we've had stuff like this happen here - just like every other club.
I'd be...
you at Grange Krakour? surely the best player wouldn't be dropped for missing trg for a reasonable reason?? best player cleared with no argument?? c'mon - get serious... I have a few mates at Grange I run into now and then and have a fair idea he thought there was separate rules for superstars...
I heard from a very good source that Cash was no longer welcome - dropped to reserves last 3 games and didn't show up for last 2 - something about being not a team player and as much trouble for the coaching staff as he was worth on the field???
I also thought Rogers the coach won the B&F -...
