There are lots of different body shapes among First Nations players in the NRL over the years. Tall and stocky builds like Artie Beetson or Sam Thaiday, tall and athletic builds like Greg Inglis, short and stocky like Adam Reynolds, shorter and slim like Jonathan Thurston.
Our game favours...
I doubt we'll ever truly know what a player is actually paid unless the system changes and there is mandatory release of that info. Player managers have a vested interest in inflating the figure (makes them look good to current and prospective clients). Clubs have a vested interest in deflating...
Coaches like unlimited interchange because they like control and predictability. They don't have to worry about "what if" as much. What if a player gets injured? What if I need to change a match up? What if someone is unexpectedly fatigued? What if my players are too tired to flood back in...
He's a gun and I suspect we'd bite the Dogs hand off if they offered him in a trade. Dunno if we could afford him though, either in a trade or contract value sense.
That's my read. I think it's reasonable to ask the RNA to stump up some funds (either directly or via grants) as they'll get the venue permanently but the sports? I mean, it's hardly a minor fitout for the tenants' purposes.
Shitty politics.
Hey everyone, is it possible to get from the upper tiers to the ground level to see the players post match? I'm in the second tier but my son wants to be on the fence if he can when the players do their lap of honour. Just want to know whether it's fairly simple to get there.
I'm pretty sure their flight is VA9004 if anyone is interested, or a plane nuffy like me. They have finally taken off.
That's it. It was about 6 planes ahead of mine waiting to take off.
We've just made a grand final, the single most unifying thing that can happen with a footy club, and you've decided to say this?
Even if it were true, and it's clearly not, it is s**t timing and a s**t attitude.
Enjoyed hearing a Blues supporter say that he was going to barrack for Collingwood next week because we robbed them, only for about a dozen other Blues supporters to turn on him! I think the world will be barracking for the Lions next week.
Even with a two year deal, the option is still there for Kai to request a trade if he's not playing regular seniors by the end of next year. Obviously a good outcome for the club but I think it still works for Kai in terms of his future.
I think he needs to spend the summer getting super fit...
Just read this apparent quote on the Port Board:
"People can say we had some injured players, or some blokes who were less than perfect – I can guarantee you that if some of the replacements were put out there, it would have been a much, much worse result."
- Ken Hinkley
That's an awful thing...
He played with most of the current Lions team and was coached by (and coached with) the current coaching group. I'd be surprised if there were too many left at Hawthorn from the Hodge era. Doesn't mean he's a Lions man first and foremost but I can see why he'd be invested in the current Lions...
Just want to make the point that the entire direction of our footy club shifted following this post. 2016 was our nadir, our annus hurribulus, until this thread. A lot of credit has gone to Swann, Fagan, Noble but lioninthesand is the true saviour of the club.
Thank you, #fakeblackface - we...
Port's new midfield is unproven in big finals and I think they are shakier defensively. Gawn, Oliver and co are proven and potentially scary. And I think Melbourne's defensive system is miles better. A physical, contested footy winning midfield and outstanding team defence is a very good...
Also, if a few things go Richmond's way (injuries, development progress etc) , I could see them making the 8 next year. They clearly need Lynch fit all year but otherwise, they have most bases covered - good rucks, decent onballers, a couple of quality KPPs and still some classy flanker types...
I don't really agree with that.
First, clubs are prepared to pay a premium for free agents because you don't have to worry about a trade cost. McKay is worth more as a FA than if he was just out of contract because the destination club gets to keep its capital.
Secondly, it's not like it is...
I reckon Fagan is thinking through how to get Rich into the side and that will require Wilmot to move out of defence.
I like Wilmot in either role but I really like the movement we've had across half back with him and McKenna. I don't think that athletic point of difference is as apparent or...
I really like Rayner in this role. He's not a pressure small - it's not in his nature and he doesn't have the repeat efforts in him. He's not really a mid because his running capacity is poor and he doesn't get to enough contests. But we've asked him to be both at times. And he's been...
I heard Mike Whiting on the podcast talk about how much time Bailey spent on the wing, which wasn't my recollection so I'm glad I wasn't imagining things.
Plenty to like for West Coast. I don't think it is going to be as bad for them as some pundits think, provided they can keep a midfield of Yeo, Kelly, Sheed and Duggan on the field while the likes of Ginbey are developing alongside them. They won't be making finals any time soon but they might...
