He was fit at Thomson, I wouldn’t have said he was peak fitness at Apollo bay tho when he was tearing the comp a new one. Honestly should have played AFL with the talent he had when younger and not sure why he didn’t as he had a scholarship to Geelong Grammar when barely no one got one back then.
Must say the later game of 2:15 is much better time to attend for people that work on saturdays than the old time it use to start. Should mean a few more followers to go watch at games.
I would have thought that East Sunbury were ripe for the picking for the RDFL when they couldn’t get a team up in 2022 I thought last year they would come across but they didn’t. I have played in the EDFL and I didn’t enjoy it at all. I don’t no what the fascination is personally, the better you...
Great to hear mate, always loved going out to camp reserve as it’s a great viewing ground. Hartley and Henderson are like gold for Castlemaine. As mentioned before Castlemaine must keep taking steps forward for the good of the comp to see some change and some belief for the clubs that have been...
Not against these changes but once a club like north shore get dropped out of Div 1 then they should head straight to GDFL to play against, north Geelong, corio ect.
I think there would only be 2 clubs in Bellarine that would want to play Div 1. Torquay and ocean grove due to population, rest...
After a bit of advice boys, just wandering is cobram or Narooma a better ground to watch footy at. I don’t think I can get up to watch them play each other this year but want to plan a golf trip around a good game of footy at the better ground. Any suggestions?
Went to a game there vs Castlemaine night match prob 4 years ago. Good Friday or Anzac Day. Was a very good crowd but bloody freezing. Should look to do with Maine, flat ect early in season.
If you’re talking about Rupo they should be going back to the RDFL quick smart. Shouldn’t have left when they did but in all honesty they and the Sunbury Roos are RDFL clubs in my book and should be looking to go back now. The league has come out of dark times and now in a great position.
Coming from a country footy background when I played EDFL the lack of attendance and atmosphere shocked me to be fair. But the turnouts at sandy and south haven’t been big either
What’s your reasons for it being a good grand final venue mate? Are diggers playing on their new ground thru the year or old ground? Anyway it’s exciting for diggers the upgrade
Romsey, Kyneton, Lancefield are much much better venues for parking, better atmosphere ect for a grand final. I find the rooms are too far away from the ground. Surface looks good tho but Not a grand final venue in my opinion.
I’ve seen things go wrong at clubs but not to the extent that it has at rupo. A side that finished 3rd in 2023 and then the next pre season most of them walk out to other clubs that have been heart and soul rupo people. Something has drastically gone wrong there for this to happen.
I’d rather them do it this way, hopefully a build that is long term instead of a short sharp burst with lots of cash thrown around and then back to where they were. They improved a lot last year and Hartley nows what his in for. Good signs I reckon.
Some great discussion on this thread at the moment. Hats off forest and great research. There are a lot of negatives on here atm which is fine and most of it is correct. But I think some of us should also concentrate that clubs like marybourgh and Castlemaine keep fronting up after coping years...
Yep facilities wise Sunbury is much better but rupo is getting over 5 mil worth of upgrades coming up. I’m pretty certain that rupo’s juniors have been much stronger than lions before they made the jump into EDFL were they used to play against each other in the RDJFNL. No love lost between rupo...
I understand rupo thinking they out grew the RDFL. I just think they went to the wrong league. They should have went to the BFL and play against Sunbury Lions. Now that would have been a rivalry and with the eastern blocks of BFL there isn’t much travelling.
When rupo jumped ship to compete with the big boys, they need to spend to win Div 1 and they would be astonished at what they would have to pay to be competitive in premier. Seems like a pipe dream now and if they were to finish last in div 1 it’d be really sad to see. Their last premiership...
You will love Kyneton, hopefully the netball facilities and social rooms get there upgrade and it’s the perfect venue for a GF with there historic grandstand, lovely ground, great parking and a ground that can hold a huge crowd.
You and your son are back in a good country league, enjoy it. Less money getting thrown around the EDFL, better camaraderie, good relationships between clubs that when the chips are down multiple clubs in the area will help with fundraising which is a huge thing. Enjoy it mate. The standard of...
