Re: It`s call out time Euge,AGAIN
Dear Roosmad
Let me just reach into my bag of tricks and wave the magic wand!!
You must think we sit back and enjoy watching our team get beaten by 50 odd points. You must believe that we are satisfied with another poor performance....please give us some credit.
The simple and inescapable fact is that there is no easy fix. We have major injuries to key players and we are in poor form. We have about 11 players with less than 50 games experience and last weekend, we only had 27 available players to choose from.
I am not about to conduct a public debate on where we are at, but clearly we have some work to do. The Coach is giving it his all and we cannot ask for anything more from him. The doomsayers are already out with their ridiculous statements and I am disappointed that our own supporters would post questions about whether we should have gone to the Gold Coast!! Turn it up...
All I will say is that true supporters and members stay loyal...particularly when the going gets tough. To date, we have close to 29000 who have committed - more than 5800 are NEW members; even though we are down on last year, we are still 7000 over our average annual membership. If you are worried about the future then consider what this Board and administration have done over the last 12 months (no shareholders, development up and running, record sponsorship and membership); in fact, drive past Arden Street - that should give you a sense of where we are heading.
In addition, we have cut $1.2M out of our revenue by walking away from the GC and despite labouring under the worst stadium deal in history (which are now thankfully public knowledge), we are still confident of making a modest profit.
Don't panic, stay loyal, continue to support the club through thick and thin and trust us to make the right decisions going forward; our track record suggests that we know what we are doing. Three years ago, Hawthorn were on the bottom of the ladder and playing very average football; strong leadership and loyal members got them through a tough time.
Suggestions that we call a press conference or sack the coach - not good management. Smacks of panic and poor planning.
As a general rule, I try to avoid getting on blogs however, I do read them and do share your pain.
Thank you for being so passionate but please, stay calm, continue to support the team and we will get through this.
Go Roos!!
Euge
