This is taken completely from PRE, but some of us don't look over there for whatever reason so I thought I'd share it with you. It is really interesting.

Maybe the other could be Cothcin maybe someone can verify this.
- Leppa has put a lot of defensive work into Post who has come back looking great. Said that that there is a real transformation in his body. He has learnt a lot over the last 2 years about his nutrition, training and the psychological affects of footy.
- Said we need a big gorilla down back and Rance is more of a CHB type but did well filling in for Moore. They are also trialling Post & Griffiths for CHB.
- They see Elton as 2 year project player who shows glimpses of brilliance and says these types will take a couple of years.
- Worked on fitness before the new year and just the basics on plans and stoppages.
- From now they will be training hard on game plan and lifting the tempo on stoppages.
- Really emphasised again they are working on their fitness.
- Moore is optimistic he will return but Leppa didn't sound to confident and mentioned how Moore has had a number of operations.

I can not vouch for the authenticity of this interview, but the posters down at PRE said that they had heard it too.

Gee I thought Rance nailed full back last year. I don't know if I like him further up the ground on the likes of Cloke etc. Would loved to see Post take on CHB. He's a big guy, certainly has the potential to be a gorilla. Much rather he play his natural position in the backline than try and turn Griffiths into a defender.

Why do we keep on trying to re-invent players into something they aren't. Astbury was a forward they tried to make him a back, Post was a back they tried to make him a forward. Now its Griffiths a KPF they are trying to convert into a KPD. Maybe they should jump on here and see how many want Grigg to play as a ruckman.

I cant understand the view that because a player plays a certain position as a junior then that means that is "their" position

CHF/CHB in particular are two positions that should be interchangeable for any player worth their salt. the attributes required to play them are very similar.

I want to see Griffiths play consistently good football at CHB/CHF down at Coburg first before he is trialed in the seniors. Whilst I believe that the time of gifting players games is NOT over yet, Griffiths is an exception. We need to teach him competitiveness and make him WANT to push that extra bit to make the side.

Switching to defence is the making/saving of some careers - a recent one is Heath Grundy. Drafted as a forward for the Swans and was absolutely hopeless but they converted him in to a good solid defender. It can happen!

Had gone down and watched training the other week. From what I had seen on Moore I dout he will be any were near the player he was with his hip, he's walking evan looked average. As for Astberry or Post they just don't have the mass weight size for the big picture.

I hate to say i called it, but, Biggie to CHB will be a great move. His kicking from defence and we know he can take a grab, he will be an awesome springboard. Happy to hear it.

Club is very happy with Post. He hasn't put much size on yet but they were stoked that he is looking alot more defined and has lost the puppy fat. They also think Moore is no chance of getting back.

I agree with this and also it is fact that Astbury played forward and back to a very high standard as a junior. He'll be alright where ever they decide his future lies for team balance.

ahhh.....pre-season updates from the club.
Like the actions of a drunken man. All phiss and wind.

Bounce the ball and we'll decide who's in the right spot, who's benefited from the preseason and who's wasting space again!!

This is 100% right.

The big problem with Griffitths is that he simply doesn't compete hard enough-never has.

It is a huge problem to overcome and something that is fairly inate.

I worry about whether or not it can be taught

I can see why they want to try Griff as a CHB. He doesn't know the right places to run to yet to be a great forward, so he can learn off his opponent. Also, his shoulders won't be getting chopped in every marking contest like they would if he was a CHF.

This. And in the mean time we can still be on the lookout for a gorilla defender. Or wait for the Postman to arrive? ;)

Rance gets lost once things get a little complicated and ain't great once opposing forwards run him under the ball, which will be amplified should he move to CHB .
Griffiths , the club is just trying to gain something from their investment , if he fails at CHB I think he should be gone by this seasons end . He has been afforded opportunities way beyond many other forwards we've tried over the past 20 years and has provided next to **** all .
I'd prefer Derickx at CHB !

Imagine if we de-listed Vickery or Rance at the start of last year because they hadn't shown much in their first 2 seasons...

Talls take time. He needs to get his body right before we can really see whether he's worth preserving or not.

And at Coburg he has done very little , to warrant his selection , he has been getting fed by a golden spoon .

Rance and Vickery were at least able to perform at Coburg and showing something albeit little, I ain't sold on break out years when player sneak under opposing sides radar , it will be interesting how they fair now opposing sides are aware of their ability .;)

To be fair, Griffiths hasn't even had a pre-season yet. It's not every day you see a kid who's 200cm 100kg with good below the knee skills and a 70m hoof on him.

He's got talent, hopefully he can overcome his shoulder injuries and at least get a full Coburg season in him.

This year I'd like to see both him and Elton in Coburg all year (unless one is dominating and warrants a selection) one at CHB the other at CHF. Basically playing kick to kick.
