Saints Should Move Quickly on Jude Bolton

He certainly is a ball magnet. His stats seem OK, but the Sydney supporters seem to not hold him in such great regard. This makes me a little sus.

Why are Sydney letting him go?

See Comparison with Joey Montagna

He is apparantly out of contract so perhaps they have hit a snag in the negotiations. He is just what we need, another hard running midfielder for our rotation.

Well I wouldn't say no to Jude Bolton but we've made no secret of our desire to address our lack of pace through the midfield and he's more of an in and under type.

We'd probably be better off going after Schneider as the Herald-Sun has suggested we are currently doing. Buchanan is another who'd be a great pick-up if we could get a deal done.

If we were to poach a Sydney midfielder - then Tim Schmidt is the man we should go after. He is a magnificent kick of the ball, he is a deep thinker of the game and he has only been given limited game time so that his stats look less impressive than they should be.

One of the most highly skilled kids coming through in the entire league.

If the saints landed any of Bolton, Scneider or Buchanon i would be over the moon. All very good players and premiership players. They are all hard to so it would free Dal and Bally up to be more outside players and they can get the hard ball with Hayes.
Amon would be my preference then Jude then Schneider. No to Tim Schmidt.

i hope you get none of then B.U.T in my opinion Jude Bolton is the most consistant he doesn't kick goals because you'll usually find him underneath the pack.

Ross Lyon was a great midfield coach and i think he knows what he needs have a look at Montagna i used to wonder how he ever got a game now look at him.

Hint: Getting the ball is only one facet of the game.

Correct, Jude's disposal is iffy at best.

With guys like Ball, Armitage, Birss and McQulater already on our list, the last thing we need is another slowish in and under player.

Love Bolton's footy, but as a 28 year old next year I don't think he should be part of our thinking.

Marty Mattner on the other hand would be a player I would have love the Saints to have nabbed. A late second round pick for him was an absolute steal for the Swans !!.

agree with what ur sayin about bolton. we don't need another in and under, and the pace of the other 2 would be better. whats the deal with Tim Schmidt in regards to pace and disposal, haven't seen much of him. if my memory serves correct (think it was schmidt) thou he is a bit of a ball magnet - had 61 touches in the twos. then again they are the NSW two's which isn't the most level comp. no disrespect

THE SWANS PLAY in the Canberra comp.

schmidt is gonna be good he is a beautiful kick for goal better than schnieder and buchannon at set shots by a long way.

Bolton is 28 years old, slow as a wet week and his body is battered.

Wouldn't play 50 games for us.

Was once a terrific footballer, but not for much longer.

Schenider on the other hand is 23, a pacy half-forward with good skills and knows how to kick a goal. The perfect sort of player for us.

Anyway, I'm sure RL knows what he is doing when it comes to the Swans players.

Thats what im afraid of. Recent the flow of staff has been going to wrong way between the Swans and St Kilda. It used to be the Swans got full forwards from St Kilda but now its St Kilda gets behind the scenes management from the Swans. I certainly dont want to see Scnenider in Saints colours next season or more specificly i certainly dont want to see him in colours other than Red and White.

If the 'Schneider for a player direct swap' rumour is correct who would be on the table???

Milne? L.Fisher? X.Clarke?

I much prefer Schneider over Bolton (for the same reasons already posted). I also believe that we need to hold onto pick 9 at all costs.

If we can end up with a trading/drafting period like this, I reckon we'll be wrapped.

Trade L.Fisher for Schneider
Trade 3rd pick for Steven King
Draft David Myers/Cyril Rioli/Alex Rance @ #9
Draft Best young ruckman available @ #26
Draft best available quick midfielder with pick 4.

That would fill a few holes very nicely!

This is what may happen: Pick 9 for Schneider with Swans giving us their later first round pick in return. There are 7 standouts in the draft then the next 20 or so are even. Look for us to have 2 picks inside the first round trading away a player and our 3rd round pick for another first rounder.

Later first round pick = #11

So you're propsing Schneider and #11 for #9. Surely you'd agree that is very lopsided.
