Re: Another Fremantle F@*! Up

Having just seen him interviewed, I reckon he's a changed man. I've never ever seen him so happy. Ever.

And good on him for winning the medal

I'm so glad he has his career on track. What a little champ.

He has built his career on playing awesome for 5 weeks then going missing for the next 5.

In 2002 he kicked 18 goals in 6 weeks then 5 in the next 4.
In 2003 he kicked 11 in 4 then 2 weeks for 0 followed by 7 in a game then another 6 weeks for 6.
In 2004 he kicked 9 one week but in the 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after he kicked 5. He then had 16 in 6 but 1 in the next 3.
In 2005 he had 15 in the first 6 weeks but then 4 in the next 7.

He is very much the sort of player than plays extremely well or does nothing. He is not doing anything different now than what he was doing at the dockers and I will reserve judgement until he shows that he can mantain some kind of form for at least half a year.
Very, very well said. Spot on.

Re: Another Fremantle F@*! Up

I also seem to remember that for that season we also picked up Luke McPharlin in that trade - who has been great for Freo - we were also going broke, so we needed high profile players - but of course lets all just forget about those things and concentrate on the things that make it easy to bag Freo.

We also had pick 4 that year, so having Croad, McPharlin and pick 4 for instead of an unknown quantity would have seemed reasonable for any team, and of course its easy to criticise with hindsight.

It terms of Medhurst, a lot of Freo people would have like to have kept him, but the belief was that he wasn't going to help win a Premiership which everyone thought we could get to with another tall forward like Tarrant, so again a reasonable decision at the time, which a lot of other teams would have made.

I honestly don't care, Medders always has been my favourite player and I've always found myself cheering for him when the Maggies are playing and right now I couldn't be happier for the man

Medders you gun!

AFL player - Freo = Star
AFL player + Freo = WAFL player

Good on him, I say.

I'm not having a dig at you per se, because I can see you're being objective. I just have to point out that his position at Collingwood was never guaranteed when he arrived. He got dropped a couple of times early last year. In fact, some Fremantle fans delighted in posting pictures on our board of him sitting on the bench in Williamstown colours. "Get used to this sight!" was the popular refrain from the West.

The position in the side was there for him, if he was willing to knuckle down, improve his fitness, accountability and work rate. He accepted that challenge, and is reaping the rewards.

6 goals today and there is still 12 minutes to go.

Tarrant will be lucky to get a kick tonight.

Just to think that in 2001 they traded their no.1# pick for Trent Croad.

They could have had:

or this guy

or maybe this guy

It hurts doesnt it Freo?
Ill see your Luke Ball and raise you a..

Re: Another Fremantle F@*! Up

I think at the time Freo traded him it was a good thing for them in that they used him to complete the deal to get the forward they wanted. In offloading him they protected the young mids that Collingwood wanted and offloaded a guy that would have been chewing up quiet a pit of cap space given where he was at. Yeah tarrant has been something of a bust this year, but it he showed some good signs last year of being a good combination with Pav. I guess the big question that Freo must be asking itself is how is it that Collingwood have turned him around when they couldn't.

Fun too!

How'd you go with that Pick 4, by the way? Pick up a 100-gamer or anything?

Yep, went great, picked a real gem in Polak.

I also like him, but he is doing pretty much the same at Richmond as he was for us - just average.
