Agreed. Not the flashiest, but the most productive. Beautiful kick of the football.

Great effort Birch. There will be AT LEAST 150 more.

All the best for the 50th this weekend.
Totally agree with this. In fact, early in the game he turned the ball over by foot, the only time in the game (and in fact the only time I remember him ever doing it), and I remember thinking we must not be on our game if that happens. I was right, but we still won

I actually saw something strange yesterday. Birch turned the ball over by foot. I was briefly angry at him before realising that he has probabably never done it before, and probably will only do it once or twice before he retires

It's good that his 50th has come on a Tassie game. I can't believe he has already reached his 50th. I heard the other day that out of all the players from his draft year, Birch has played the most games. Congrats Birch

Re: Grant Birchall - congrats on 50 fine games...

If you were an opposition supporter, you would swear Birchall was a 25 year old, 100+ game player.

Scary thing is, his is only 20, and he has already played 50 games.

Is underrated because he plays well beyond his years, so people dont take him as this 20 year old.

Who knows what he will be when he is 25 with 100+ games under his belt?

Go Birch - one of my favorite players.

Ahhh the Gooch...

My love for the Gooch knows no bounds

My favourite player by a mile, has been for a couple of years now. Love the his composure and reliable footy brain, the left foot disposal speaks for it self.

Wish I could be in Tassie to cheer him on and off the ground

I'll be there in spirit Gooch, best of luck on your 50th big fella

Relax... I've lost 25 KG's since then.... No FAT jokes!

Birchall really is the quiet achiever of the Hawthorn team. Impresses the hell out of me each time I see him play, but you rarely hear him mentioned in the media. He's probably the "Michael Tuck" of this current team.

I just can't believe he's only played 50 games, the way he plays it look like he's played atleast 150.
Congrats Birch

Love your work, Birch. Truly an exquisite player.

I'll make a big statement here and say, I think Grant Birchall will be the next Hawthorn player to play 300 games for the club. If he holds his body together I could see him keeping on until he's 34 or 35, which would easily get him to the 300 mark.
