Re: Ballarat Football League

Darley Rat , get out of the gutter . Peoples personal life is private let it stay that way!!!
So the 'Swine' has fled the shinking ship that is Melton South?...every couple of years he leaves and unfortunately for the Panthers - he returns!!!...not sure the Darley Rat is in the gutter alone....

Re: Ballarat Football League

Any suprise inclusions at Sumba. K.A Darley are without Urch Robbins and Dryden.
Who is the wet going to suit more. I think Darley as Sumba have that powerfull forward line the wet will see the ball on the ground more so will make it hard for the high marking forwards.

Sunbury are sending a strong side across. They look to have got Darley at a good time with a couple of key players out. Players like Lekkas and Urch play well no matter what the conditions are like. Should be a cracking game - it just a shame about the weather.

Have to agree with you CA, the game should be a cracker. If it's like the corresponding game at Darley Park last year it will be a ripper.

I thought Darley were clearly the best side in the wet last year and I see no reason why that should change this year. At this early stage of the season I wonder if have the bye last week will help or hinder Sunba!

Re: Ballarat Football League

interesting to see brad maxwell down at the eastern oval through the week, training with east point.. if they roo boys can convince him to play will create a dangerous duo with daniel jordan in the forward and will defiantley create a few head aches for opposition back lines

Who is CA?
Darley were the best in the wet, dry or any other condition. Every team from 08 needs to get to that level to contend 09. After tomorrow we will have more of an idea if Sunbury can push to that level.

Re: Ballarat Football League

Well K & C have the same sound :D

CA is an unloved poster on TLC

Please accept my humble apologies. I'm expecting a full rundown of the game from yourself and the Darley crew hear in the coming days as I can't make the game.

Out as well - no need for apologies. Will catch these two in the granny.

Re: Ballarat Football League

May is the key word. Word on the street is that Darley were very good today. Sunba has some work to do to get to that level.
Looked like Sunbury had all its guns in as well.

Lee James proved he is a quality player in any league.

Has to be a question mark over the head of the 2's coach at Sunbury also !

Re: Ballarat Football League

What is the go with poor old Dion's snakes, will they win a game this year?

Should have beaten the devils but If they cant beat melton they won't win many. Sebas may be their only chance...

Why isnt Shaun "Strong" or the "The Blanket" Deckert in the interleague Squad??? Held houlihan to 2 goals which was 1 kick off the ground out of a pack and a free kick paid down the ground which houlihan was on the end of. Has shut down jordan, nunn, houlihan and all the so called big forwards for the past two years. No other full backs in the squad who come close.

The strongman can't get to training at Darley, so what hope will they have of getting him to train for interleague.

Re: Ballarat Football League

Well my fears were unfounded; The Devils are in fact the real deal !
In atrocious conditions on Saturday they dealt out to Sunbury a real solid reality check.
& “Napoleon” met his Waterloo ! Yes Serg has built a team, a team of Champions perhaps. But Darley showed they are indeed a Champion team. Yes its early days yet in the season, so the Lions have plenty of time to address their deficiencies.
Their work at the stoppages lacks system & purpose, the backline needs to gel & work as a unit, the forwards need to be more desperate to keep the ball in their zone. And the team as a whole needs to talk more & start doing the one percenters that make good football easy.

On the otherhand Darley were rock solid & relentless.
I thought Deckert was superb on Houlihan in what was probably the pivotal match up of the game. Young Kyle Doyle was fantastic. Coach Learmonths use of Brad Miller in the center then switching him forward after every bounce was smart, inspirational & effective. Miller finished the game with 3 goals, which coincidentally just happened to get Darley over the line in the end. Really the only shining light for Sunbury was former AFL player Angelo Lekkas. His poise and ball getting ability was enormous in the context of the game, & his experience and talent should turn out to be a boon for Sunbury this season, especially with their younger group.

It’s a real shame that these two great clubs don’t meet again this home & away season.

Lastly I’d like to thank the “Chief” (may he rest in peace), and the “Rat” for their hospitality over at Darley Park.(even saw LBB hiding in the corner)
Sipping beverages on the terraces over there is an experience I’d encourage all visiting supporters to partake of. (if you dare) !
The passion of the locals on display there is what footy’s all about….. Great Stuff !
& the Glamours ????? Well it was like being at a cross between an Amsterdam Knock Shop & a Miss Universe Pageant !!!
And they all truelly seem to fawn at the feet of the great man…… Amazing !

Anyway Devils see you again come Finals time.

Oh & my shout Chief next time,…. I owe yu.

Re: Ballarat Football League

Darleys side to play Sunbury is to top heavy. Not many people in that team that have alot of speed. I would of thought they bring in someone like Kade Sexton or Sam Hitchings do provide some run

Kade Sexton your kidding me right? you said speed not a twig getting blown in the wind.

Re: Ballarat Football League

Interesting draw so far this year, no Ballarat side has left Ballarat yet, and no Eastern side has left the East yet. The first team from Ballarat to travel will be Lakers in round 5 to play the Snakes. An Eastern side will not play in Ballarat till round 6, when South go to play North City.
Hard to line up which teams are going better, its like the inside or outside of the Flemington straight.

Re: Ballarat Football League

nice darley rat good to see you remember choking last year. Urch is the worst 1000 bucks a game player ever seen, you might aswell offer keenan reynolds 10 green ones a game to come back he will do more damage up forward. As long as travis minns is in the side you will never win a flag, too fat and slow for the heat of the finals kitchen as shown last year by ballarat. Kade sextons got the speed you need but he just snorted it up his nose at the y&m last saturday night so your shit out a luck. Redan will be back to choke slam devils this september.

Re: Ballarat Football League

can anyone let me know how sammy newton is going?is he handling the better oponents?who has he played on thus far

Re: Ballarat Football League

Well it seems the sides are starting to sort themselves out with 2 eastern sides and 4 western sides likely to fill the finals spot. Good to see Darley supporters putting back together their broken hearts with hope for this year. I suggest we will see more broken hearts come later in the year. Once again melton south failed to deliver
