I really don't know what eventually gets switched on. They can not afford to play like they did for nearly 3/4 against quality opposition.
Next week is against the "old enemy" and we wouldn't want to start like we did today. W'ell get kileed.
Fisher played well but he's not the answer. Nice to see Yarran get a kick.
Well done Blues.........you give me a bloody heart attack throughpot the game.:D

Nice try but your credibility took a massive hit today. You really ought to go into the other silly thread you started and man up and say you got it completely wrong. And have some faith.

We were sloppy, indifferent and didn't seem to want to win the game in the first half.

But Fisher really did his role, and imposed himself early in the third quarter to put us back in the game. The shot he decided to take when he was ready to chip off and do the same rubbishy habits that has defined our 'mid tier player syndrome' was sensational in that he backed his own abilities, lined up and kicked the goal.

If anything it's our lesser lights trusting their abilities and taking the game on rather than taking lazy, stupid options.

Here lies the problem, you've been smoking way too much pot...

Nope!
It was completely right for three quarters. Just because Sydney ran out of legs does distract me from the poor use of the ball for three quarters.
I've watched the Blues play for over 60 years and have been fortunate enough to be at the "G" to see us win 8 flags.
During those years I watched us go from bottom to top on many occasions and regardless of the "childrens" thoughts I do have some understanding of what's required for the "long haul"
You:confused: are the same guys who have wanted to drop Russell, O'hAlipin, Bower, Fisher, Bentley and Houlihan. Most of these played today in our winning team.
I'll just wait until we loss one again and off you will all go again.:p:D

Couple of things here. First up you say you have watched us for 60 years to climb from bottom to top a few times, well that simply is not true, we never ever finished bottom until this decade, ever. And since we finished bottom for the first time we are yet to climb back to the top. We are on our way though but for the youngsters out there and for factual accuracy we have never climbed from the bottom to the top.

If you know what is required for the long haul you would know 2 things, young teams rebuilt take time to get all of the facets of the game right and can run hot and cold even within the same game, you seem to not understand that part of what happens for the long haul, and secondly you would think that over the 60 year journey you would have learned that our great game is decided on who is in front when that final siren goes, not the one that ends the third quarter, watch for that one next week, you see if I am not right!

And finally if you really do think I am one of the posters that asks for JR or Carlos or anyone for that matter to be dropped then you best give this posting caper away old timer.

I am the one who ask for JR to be dropped, and was interesting to see that after JR had two solid games, he once again turned over the ball. Not asking for much from a player like him, all I want is for him to improve his disposals. Five years on our list is long enough to improve at least 1%.

So did Judd. And more than once.

Five times to be precise. Overall efficiency 62%

For the record JR turned the ball over twice. At 67% efficiency. Better than Judd but slightly below the average for the whole team of 72%.

JR was also equal third in number of for tackles for the whole game.... best was ROK of Sydney (with 14...), next was Gibbs and Betts with 7.

Not JR's best game, but far from his worst.

It's getting annoying that JR has to be defended each week no matter how well or poor he plays (although the bagging is getting less), it seems people go to the game and wait for JR to make a mistake just so they go bag him. Hate relying on stats but his efficiency each week is no worse than anybody else and usually about middle of the road or higher. Yes, he makes mistakes, they all do.

Just because the supporter next to you bags JR doesn't mean that you have to.

I hate it when you ppl do this , how many disposals did judd have / how many did jr have ....

Jr had a good game , but to compare his efficiency with someone who had the ball twice as much is just weird ?? i dont know why you would do that ??

I have never heard a player get as bagged as Jordan Russell throughout the game. It was non stop were i was. There was one bit of play in the 3rd qrt i think, were a blues player handballed to a Swans player and they caned JR even though he was bout 100 mtrs from the ball. Its bullshit

well why was he 100m from the ball huh?
Kind of liked his game yesterday. Certainly turning the tide slowly. Still lots of competition for every spot in the 22

The reason is why?

Usual thing.

Gets down to people being unsatisfied in their personal lives, the tension building up, no physical or mental release of that tension, coupled with a devout Catholic upbringing which results in unrelenting sweat pouring off the brow, then an unnecessary explosion on an easy target - easy target (JR), because others are doing it therefore the unsatisfied person joins in and feels a sense of belonging.

Along with my older brothers I used to also do it, usually at the Royal Melbourne show to the ceramic clown with the wide open mouth

You realize efficiency is rated as a percentage right?

Saying Judd kicked the ball directly to a Swans player while under no pressure five times, while JR only did it twice, would be unfair to CJ. He got the ball twice as much as JR.

But IT Is a hell of a lot fairer to measure clangers by % of total disposals that resulted in turnovers.

Juddy got twice as much of the Ball than JR (unsurprising as a midfielder), but also caused slightly more than twice as many turnovers.

Hence JR was slightly more efficient than Judd. Got the ball a lot less, and was far less damaging, however also laid more tackles than the great man. Not suprising seeing as they have different roles in the side.

For a fairly low possession game, I rate JR's performance as Par. I'm happy that the suggestions for changes in a separate thread have been silent on dropping JR, which I can only suggest is a vindication of his game on the weekend.

This is not a critique of Judd by the way. Its a defense of JR.
