I'm pretty sure an upgrade for Blair is too late, ie past the cutoff date for rookie promotions. It will be 4 picks, with the fourth being used either in the ND or the PSD
No doubt McDonald, Shirley and Harris will all be looked at along with Danny Stanley who is an outside chance to get a last minute reprieve. Which one we choose (if any) may depend in part on whether we get Ball, what cap space we have left, and what needs we have.

Re: Shannon Cox retires!
I believe you're right about the rookie elevation rule.
I think maybe if you have a free space on your list after the drafts, you can nominate a rookie that can play the full year.

Re: Shannon Cox retires!
Would this Problem been there when we took him in the 3rd round of the Rookie draft in 2005?

Well, one thing you can say for Cox is that he trimmed down a lot from the draft video. Then straight after Cox comes Danny Nichols, another one who failed to make the big time. Once Cox made the seniors, I never really rated him. Lacked intestinal fortitude.

Retired or delisted?
I was looking forward to see what he would bring to the field in 2010. He just had to have a professional preseason Despite his junk food reputation I was surprised how big he had got since the VFL Preliminary.
Two players with lots of talent who left for personal reasons. Is the club giving our boys enough support? Or are we making men with discipline that will last them beyond footy?

They were both only rookies and as we know, rookies are hardly certainties to make the grade.
In saying that though, our recent history with rookies has been very good, so you can hardly lament the losses of blokes like Nichols and Cox when you've reaped the benefits of guys such as Maxwell and O'Brien.

We have to get Ball now otherwise our "players with sexually suggestive names" ratio will nose dive.

Nyes, that of course is why we are having a look at Thomas also for 30 with Panos - whose name quite easily becomes transformed into Penos.
