Was at the WACA last night and saw you Mitch Marsh bowling.

Forgetting his figures which were inflated by the position of the game - the action he has and the pace he was generating bodes well for a long career as Australia's next genuine all-round superstar!!

He was generating genuine heat coming off his injury and when fully fit will be over 140ks!

Exciting times! In fact I think out long term future looks really good as well as Smith and Hazelwood looked good as well. Jury still out on Henriques - he promises so much though...

Mitch can bowl but his strength has always been his batting, ok bowler, exceptional batsman.

I'd prefer to see him concerntrate on his batting.

We seem to have some very good bowlers in the 19-23 age group at the moment, but not too much of note in the 23-30 ages.

2 to 3 years of first class cricket and the likes of Hazlewood, Pattinson, Starc, Henriques, Smith, Khawaha, Marsh etc will be very good players, along with Hughes who has already played test cricket obviously, so the future is bright even if the next couple of years are average.

His action kind of reminds me of Shane Bonds, if he improves accuracy with his bowling he'll be a gun.

Dont say that, you'll give me a raging hard-on. If Bond wasn't so prone to injuries he wouldve been one of the best bowlers in recent history.

i heard he could bowl but was expecting him to just be the batsmen who can bowl 120-130km/h and be handy, the type u give the ball to when real bowlers arent performing.

After seeing him bowl yep he looks like a genuine allrounder and with more technique and strength will be very very handy with both ball and bat.

Amazingly, according to his CricInfo profile, that match the other night was the first time Mitch Marsh has bowled in any form of domestic cricket.
Only because he's coming off an injury. He's bowled a lot at under-age and club level

From what I saw he looked a bit like Watson with the run up. Hes meant to be able to outswing so he could well follow Watson. 137km/h is dam good for a 18 yo and his accuracy looked to be decent enough. I'm liking our all round options for the future.

He will be a great player for us in the future. Can see the Marsh brothers carving up other teams in the future.

different bowling action to watson - bowls with a very stiff wrist - held in position throughout the run-up. More mcdermott like, particularly the run-up.

The good news is - if he can get it to move at 18, he is doing what it has taken watson a 8 years to do!

definitely has the talent - if he has the application - happy days...

Whilst I said earlier in the piece that I feel he should concerntrate on his batting, he's had a pretty charmed upbringing.

His backyard his basically set up with a cricket net, bowling machine and 30 or so yards for his run up.

He was also handpicked by D.Lillie to be apart of his fast bowling academy over here in W.A as a 16 year old when he was still growing, IMO this contributed to his injuries, he should have been allowed to finish growing.

Anyway, whilst Im still of the opinion that he should focus on his batting, his talents with the ball are pretty good and he'll have the best tutor watching his every movement should he get more overs.

Personally I dont think it's his calling but god knows D.K will try and transform him if he keeps taking poles.

You know whats funny about that, he opens the bowling bowls himself all day, and the keeper is up to the stumps from ball one.

may well be the case

but he has the best average and best strike rate of all the bowlers as well. so it's not just a case of having more overs, so therefore more chances to take wickets !

Edit: he's also bowled 50 overs less than the blokes at positions 2 and 3 on the list. He's also averaging 14 overs a game. So hardly bowling all day.

He looks the goods - if he was a NSW player, he would have his baggy green already. I have always been a fan of Shaun so hopefully one day they both player for Australia together

Lol. Pommers has a mean bouncer I think that's why he gets so many.

He's handy with the ball, any other club he'd be a 3rd change bowler. But good on him, from what I've heard he's put his head down got himself fit and knows he has to repay the faith.

Dont live next door to the Marsh's, but have played a lot of cricket for Freo in the one's and two's over the course.
