Rules and Guidelines for all the Hawthorn Boards

First and foremost, this is the Hawthorn board, which, not surprisingly, is a place where Hawthorn supporters predominately post. That's not rocket science. Therefore, and quite unapologetically, the rules and their interpretation, are slanted in Hawthorn posters' favour Fans of other clubs are more then welcome to get involved in debate and discussion on the Hawthorn Board, but keep it sensible and constructive. Bear in mind we will afford Hawthorn supporters far more latitude than those from other clubs.
None of these rules are new - we just think it's time they were restated. We have, however, borrowed the excellent guidelines from the Port Board to lay out the additional rules for opposition supporters.

The general commandments:
- New posters are always welcome
- No personal abuse.
- No swear filter evasion
- No Spamming
- No links to your own external content for promotion.
- Differences of opinion are perfectly fine. Flame Wars are not. Sniping others is not.
- Show respect – Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you disagree, find a way to do it without getting the guns out.
- Rumours – provide a source and clearly state that it is a rumour.
- Topics that have been done to death.
- Stay on topic. Follow the guidance in the pinned posts of specific threads.
- Exaggerated criticism of Hawthorn players.
- Saying you were only joking after you have been infracted = bad luck.
- If you are not sure and don't make it clear, then don't post it.
- Bumping old threads. Please don’t do it to prove a point or make a fool of someone.
- Don't quote from other team boards; or quote from this board on other boards. It's inflammatory and we'll regard it as a troll.
- SMS talk = keep it on your phone
- Grammar and spelling monitors – this is not the place to demonstrate your command of the English language.
- The moderators aren't robots and don't necessarily read every post. If you see something that you take offense with, or is a breach of the forum rules - click the Report Post icon in the offensive post we’ll attend to it when we can.
Opposition Supporters
- We have a zero tolerance policy for trolling. If you troll you will be infracted.
- If you are to post here, be respectful. Respect the users of this board, respect the club and there will be no problems.
- Constructive and friendly debate is always welcome.
- Joining in the spirit of existing satire and friendly banter may also be okay.
- Saying you were only joking after you have been infracted = bad luck. If you are not sure and don't make it clear, then don't post it.
- Opposition fans do not have the same right of reply as Hawk fans. If you want to get even, there are other boards to do this on (within BF guidelines).
- Personal abuse by an opposition fan will meet with an infraction.
- Disrespect towards Hawthorn or its players will meet with an infraction.
- Hawthorn supporters are perfectly entitled to be arrogant on our own boards. Opposition supporters criticising our supporters for arrogant posts on this board will not be tolerated.
- Serious Infractions will be given to all opposition trolls regardless of provocation.
- If a Hawthorn supporter has been trolling your board then please inform your moderator to deal with it.
- The moderators reserve the right to interpret your intent as they see fit.
- If you want to complain against an infraction via PM or on the boards, you may be rewarded with a further infraction.
- The moderators may at any time decide to remove your access to the Hawthorn board temporarily or permanently
