1 or 2?

Surely he has to go for that bump on Houlihan.

There is no difference to the bump Stenglein layed on Eckermann.

High contact and it is reportable.

My guess is one week.

His elbow was tucked in on impact so I say he should get zero weeks, but with the AFL trying to turn the game into a non-contact sport I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for two.

I personally saw nothing wrong with it but who knows these days?
Huh?

The fact he elbowed his head will mean he's in trouble.

The Lord Commander said:
Is Aussie Rules still a contact sport? Let them play the game FFS.

Amen.

Offences such as eye gouging, headbutting, king hits, kicking etc should be dealt with the most severly. No room in any sport for that gutless behaviour. Delibrate attacks to the head etc also warrant lengthy suspensions. Mis-timed bumps or over-aggressiveness that strike a player high should be dealt with on merrit.

However, solid but fair contact should be re-encouraged. Scrap the striking classification - if two men want to go toe-to-toe let them go. If a player "strikes" someone from behind or something like that, obviously there should be punishment. The melee rule is a joke - if your mate is getting done, you should be able to help him out without being afraid of getting suspended for being the "third man in".

Its a professional sport being played for keeps - if you can't handle a fair shirtfront or spine-tingling hip-and-shoulder, p1ss of and play soccer or calligraphy.

Lets see some phyisical contact this year - bumps that rattle the teeth, driving tackles, scrotum-grabs, whatever. Soft, soft, soft.

In the spirit of our soft new game and to make sure mothers arent afraid to send their little boys out to play footy. 10 weeks min.

I didn't see anything report worthy in it. Elbow tucked in upon impact and floated up after impact, ball in vascinity so it could be claimed as a sheppard nothing illegal except the bump slipped a little high. Fair hit, free kick was paid should be left at that. But with the AFL as it is you just never know

One month,naughty little feral kid.

He should get 3 weeks just for the way he carried on last night.

Paul "tough guy" Medhurst ... wow ... you must be real tough to flatten Marc Murphy and Princess Houlihan !!

How about you try it on someone like Fev now ?? ... Coward.

If Medders gets done over "Thats It", this will be my last season of AFL. I will go back and support real footy, the WAFL.

Nothing in that. He has his elbow tucked in with his point of the shoulder making contact with Houlihan. Medhurst didn't leave the ground either.

I think he will be okay.

I dont remember it that well but if he was in the air then he might be in trouble.

I am unsure as to what the rule is with the 'elbow tucked in'. The elbow wasnt completely down it was being raised but he didnt get Houlihan with the point of the elbow. He did get him high and I think you could class it as intention/ reckless.

My bet is that he will get a week but it will be reduced to 0 weeks with an early plea.
