How often does it happen...I went to the Roos v Coll (among others) game and noticed that the pie folk did this:

'Our black 'n' white stripes
is here to stay
Watch out roos
we're here to play'

Shouldn't it read 'Our black and white stripes are here to stay'...surely someone would notice when its being made.....funny s**t.

I remember in 1999 when they put "Colingwood" on the banner!:D

I am astounded that the banners do not get proofed before they take them onto the ground. How badly do grammatical errors on a banner reflect on the club?

Collingwood= Notorious for typo's on banners. Absolutley shocking- you're right too diego- except in Collingwood's case, it doesn't help when you have no one on the cheersquad that can read, let alone proof read! :)

The Blues had one one week that went noticed by the public a fair bit that the media really picked up on it. Then, i think the Pies played Carlton the next week and made a mistake on the banner, and i wasn't too sure if it was to prove the blues for being dumb, or the Pies were just plain stupid, lol :p

having a look at collingwood's banner, why would you even bother with the expression marks around the 'n' like so, when they couldn't put the sentence togethor right! We are a committed bunch at the pies, at least we can Rhyme. For originality though, we are the best on the banners- we are the first to make continuous grammatical errors, but on the contrary, we rarely have sponsors always occupying one side of the banner, like the Kangaroos', Geelong, Carlton etc. continually make a habit of.

Yeah those banners like "HSBC Supports the Hawks" and "Hungry Jacks and the Eagles - A winning Team" are rubbish.

Yeah I picked that up straight away too. Just unbelievable.

Is it true Eddie gives the ok for the banner before the game???

Of courth he does thilly....

Round two, Blues vs Dockers, I noticed that Carlton's banner used the word "their" in a sentence that should have had it spelt "they're". Petty stuff but I had a quiet laugh upon seeing the mistake! If I was making the banner I'd surely get my grammer right! Otherwise you look stoopid!

:)

The black and white striped side on the banner yesterday had bright orange Wizard logos on it .....they just couldn't resist.

Those Wizard things are part of the poles, rather than the actual banner.

But you're right, it kind of undermined the statement the banner tried to make.

Bad grammar. But nothing beats 'Bombres'.
