Richmond Preseason Training Observations

Wandered along to Vic Park (perfect way to spend a day off) this morning. Mucked up the starting times and arrived at 11 instead of 10am, but in the 20 odd minutes I did watch I noticed:

* Polo now has blonde hair
* White and Jackson were (by some margin) at the front of most endurance running events
* Polak is a 'long' player that, although he has an impressive physique, you'd expect would need another 5kg or so to hold down CHB. He also looked a little sheepish from a social sense amongst the group, which is in line with GM's comments about his lack of overt confidence etc
* Rawlings quite vocal - no doubt keen to make an impression just as much as the potential PSD'ees.
* Kingsley OK, nothing special but clearly a footballer
* Coughlan, Newman and Knobel did stationary ballwork, Hyde the only one in civvies (not sure why). Newman kicked both sides up to 40m
* Tambling, McGuane and Schultz left early - maybe to eat 2kg of pasta and hit the gym
* King working with Jackson and Foley on low, very hard stab passes
* I should eat better and do more running around/ sit-ups like these guys.

I've got next week off too so will let you know any other groundbreaking news if I get up to Vic Park again, though likely to be more of the same - fitness etc where everyone looks a million dollars until they have an opponent.

Cheers

Did notice a Commodore parked outside with "H8LOSNG" as its plate. Needs a wash.

Has always been like that..And always will.

Simply an introvert, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Hi,

After reading the local paper I noticed a young fella from the North Ballarat Rebels is training with you.

http://www.ararat.yourguide.com.au/d...al&m=11&y=2006

How does he look, would you think that he has a chance of getting picked up maybe as a rookie?

Just interested to know because he hasnt always been talked up like some other kids from the region.

Cheers.

Never heard of him but the last two paras in the article are correct, then I'm not surprised we are looking at him:

Watson described Clingan as a tall, athletic rebounding defender who runs all day.
He said his pace and ball skills are suited perfectly to modern day running football.

Had him at 71 in my phantom draft

"71. Tas Clingan (Kangaroos) - Only really showed his talent in the finals campaign, which probably translates to rookie consideration at best. Thrived on the HBF where he could run at the contests, fly for spoils, swoop on crumbs and run and bounce. Turns defence into attack with good pace and long kicking. "

Cheers guys,

He is a good kid, I have only ever seen him play in the local leagues and he has always shown a lot of class. All the best to him.

Here are some pics from PRE. Tambling looks a fair bit bigger from the side on shot. There are more of them from the link.
