Call me a premature organiser, but I was on the qantas site trying to book frequent fliers and they're all gone already back until the Monday before! Then I tried VirginBlue and there's nothing under about $600. This is worse than Grand Final week last year when I got a flight for about $500 over there on the Friday night and it's only just gone March!

Anyone got flights yet just in case?

Its only just flicked over to March mate. But if we make the GF living in Adelaide has an advantage after all. Can drive or for $50 get the bus :thumbsu:

No matter what, no matter who plays Im gonna be in Melbourne for GF weekend - AWESOME atmosphere!! :thumbsu:

It may only be March but a lot of people have had the same idea as me if the flight situation is any indication! Good luck getting a flight under $1000 if u book in June or later!

The last two years we have booked in May and got seats at a reasonable price (I think they were $290 last year one way). They were expensive at this time of year last year as well, so just wait a while until something cheaper is released.
 
booked flights last year in august for bout $800 return on qantas
will prob wait and do the same this year if the eagles are looking the goods
 
Sooo... what everyone is saying is seats become cheaper as the year wears on? Very intreiguing, I needn't panic yet!

I spent all of my teenage years in Canberra - Downer (the suburb - not having a go) Is driving to batemans bay as fast a possible to get a burger or chips still the most exciting thing to do there ?

Dodging large hailstones has become popular lately. And of course you can always cross the border and laugh at people who live in Queanbeyan.
 
I'm lucky, i have a paid conference trip to the gold coast for the mon-fri before hand so am going to tack on a flight to melb, just have work pay for Perth-GC and then melb-perth(if i can get a flight!)
