I'm sorry I haven't seen the game (**#$# Adelaide TV) and I only heard the last quarter on radio, so anyone else got a comment?

3/10 would be a reasonably fair assessment.
Did a couple of things, made a couple of errors. More the things that he didn't do that drags down his score.
Not our worst player on the day, but definitely below par.

According to Nathan Buckley, Brown is our most valuable player

Re: 16. Leigh Brown
2/10 I would say, but 3/10 is close enough.

Absolutely !
For the BIG VALUE KUDOS he gets, he pales insignificance. The guy ought to be ASHAMED of himself the way he avoids the 'tough stuff' ....opportunities by the truckload to stamp himself as a PLAYER but rarely lives up to his potential. Why is he in the team is a mystery...the depth must be very shallow if he has nobody to force him out I guess.
3/10 for mine... Built like Tarzan, plays like Jane (I think that's being tough on Jane).

Re: 16. Leigh Brown
Well...that was a performance that left me so speechless I couldn't type until today...
I've defended Leigh Brown a lot, I want him to do well but I've just given up. How can someone of his size and talent (I know it's there deep down) just give up in contests so easily? He can't seem to take a contested mark. Occasionally his lack of marking allowed one of our crumbing players to snatch the ball so maybe that's his perceived role, and occasionally he does show flashes with good passes etc but it's just not enough, not when we so desperately need the tall marking forward.
2/10.

Re: 16. Leigh Brown
Brown was unremittingly awful on the weekend.
The disappointing thing with Brown is that he has good skills. But I have never seen a player so easily pushed out of a contest, and he is basically useless once the ball hits the ground. Never wins a hard ball.
Edwards looked far more likely to take makes and kick goals. Must be given more opportunities than Brown, who surely must have run out of chances in the 1's.

Re: 16. Leigh Brown
Thought Browny had a pretty good game today.
Looked that way on the TV anyhow.
Gerard H seems to have a thing for our #16....He likes how Brown can slot into a forward or defensive role without too much drama.
I agree that Brown seems to have found some form in recent rounds.

Re: 16. Leigh Brown
Brown failed to be selected for the first NAB Cup game, although may well have been omitted due to a facial injury sustained during the club's intraclub game in early February.

Re: 16. Leigh Brown
Just thought I'd let you know that in a recent interview with Paddy Ryder. He said that Leigh was his toughest opponent. The reason, he ran around alot.
It surprised me. Thoughts?

Re: 16. Leigh Brown
Met Leigh recently , seemed very guarded but opened up after a while.
When I said it looked like he had lost weight during the pre season he said his weight was the same but he had put on some upper body weight and reduced his skinfolds .
He said he had been AFL system for 8 years and when asked still didn't feel secure .
We discussed that some players perform better under that pressure and some with security .
NM have this year put on a full time head shrink "my words" and would be the last afl club to do so.He thinks it is a good move to have somebody from a sporting backround non footy .
Interesting guy , a lot smarter than I expected and a lot more protective of himself .

Re: 16. Leigh Brown
I feel for Brownie, he looks like a superstar footballer, and all else, but for some reason has not delivered to a level that would be expected of a player of his age and experience, I think the club has put him on notice, but think its psychological with him, he needs to get aggressive and even cop a report, and go from there.

Unfortunately, he never was and never will be.
He was a big kid in juniors, but everyone is bigger in the AFL, and quicker.
Good skills, but can't read the play, is too slow to play back and not good enough overhead to play in defence.
