hardest loss to take that i can remember
i've been following the club for over 30 years and this loss hurts more than any i can remember.
i realise with hindsight that will probably change (98 gf and 94 pf will probably still win out) but i was so impressed with the effort, and to lose it form there was a kick in the guts, especially considering who it was against.
BUT, from the things i saw today i am hopeful of a quick ride back to the top half of the ladder. we missed so many chances today and we were so far clearly the better side, but hopefully with more composure and game experience we'll win these types of games
let's hope a lot of the fringe supporters see what they produced today and jump on board. i feel more confident now that things will turn around and i hope that is the message out of today.
we will have some shockers this year no doubt, but from what i saw today we will give some teams a lot of trouble.
the first reaction is blame but in the cold light of day i'm sure this group of players will be better for what happened today.

A distressing loss but Laidley had all the positive spin ready after the game - I suppose he had to.
Just plain shocking!

Re: hardest loss to take that i can remember
Great to have some kids play and couple did well, but a cop out to say we will learn from it.
We did it against Brisbane last year, we did it against Carlton in NAB Cup, we did it again today. In fact, we did it in all three NAB Cup games.
If we haven't already learned the lesson, we are a bit slow.

Hardest lost to take? What about the much worse last quarter fade out 3 weeks ago from a bigger margin in front, against last years bottom team?
Short memories.

Agree hard to take a loss like that but i saw some positives. Our fitness is better our kicking for goal was not . If we had kicked straight we would have won by 4 or 5 goals. When you dominate most of the game and give the other team a sniff inaccurate kicking will hurt. Our game is to play hard early we did it for 3/4 s, last yr for 2 quarters so we try and get 6 to 7 goal lead then hold them off in the last. After a heavy pre season we will tire later in games but hopefully get better during the yr and better again next yr. We r young and i saw good signs in Thomas, Campbell , Hansen, McIntosh our other problem we currently dont have that class player to seal a match hopefully in time Hansen maybe it. The game was begging to be finished off but we couldnt do it when we were 4 goals up.

Re: hardest loss to take that i can remember
I think the fact that we lost it rather than they won it was a kick in the guts. Also the fact that this would have helped memnerships numbers, morale around the club was devestating.
besides 98 it was the hardest loss ive ever experienced.

Re: hardest loss to take that i can remember
What can I say Devastating. The bad kicking today reminded me so much the bad loss in the 98 GF with the very bad kicking in the first half
