Have only heard of these two fellas, never seen them in action. Could someone tell me how good they are, whether they will any contribution to the team and how far they are off. And, if possible some stats from the Ants? Thanks
 
Jacobs in front of Hampson by a fair way at this stage.

Hampson is a project player. Struggles to know where to run most times. Struggles with positioning around the ground. Struggles with competitiveness as he is only lightly built. Doesnt help that he has been playing forward in the ants due to the fact that they have so many ruckmen. At the ants there is Jacobs/McLaren/Hampson/Aisake and Ackland played there last week aswell as cloke being a ruckman. 5 ruckmen have played with 6 in total on the list. With the blues having to play setanta and kouta it is probably a sign of how our rucks are going. He was dropped to the ants reserves and will struggle to get back into the senior side due to this fact. This year no way. Next year highly unlikely. 2009/2010 more likely.

Jacobs is a strong bodied kid. Works hard at ruck contests and is quite smart. Does ok at ground level. Running will improve and has been going ok without tearing down the door for a spot in carltons side. Doesnt have the potential of Hampson but may get a crack next year as carlton have poor ruck stocks.

Neither are ahead of Ackland so unlikely they will play before him.
 
Hampson is playing in the Bullants reserves and Jacobs in the Bullants Seniors.

Jacobs has a bigger body and that's probably why he is performing better at this point in time. Hampson was a top 20 pick last year but I always thought it was risky. Players like Jetta, Hislop and Proud were still available. Hampson doesn't have a strong football backround as he played soccer as a kid. He was drafted on he's amazing development over the past 2 seasons. He was a risk to draft in the top 20, but we need to see he's progression in 3 years time before we make a judgement.

At this stage Jacobs is in front, but Hampson will be the longer term prospect.

Agree HBF - Jacobs looks too slow and cumbersome for me (my opinion from the games I have seen him play). I think Hampson will be great in a couple of years
 
Jacobs over Ackland any day...this young kid has the body, enthusiasm and provides a contest - what does/has Ackland done?
 
jaocbs and hampson spend most of the vfl games on the bench- jacobs is showing nothing. hampson will be good be in about 3 years time. aisake is the one who will be our no 1 ruck next yr. hes as fast as a midfielder, has a long left foot and takes big grabs-watch out ackland

Apparently one of his major strengths is that he taps just as easily with either hand, and he is also a very good overhead mark.

He would have to be our number one ruckman beofre Ackland.

I would have thought:
Seaby/Charman (traded for Fev ;)) or Kreuzer if we get the no.1 + Cloke

With Aisake pinching Clokes spot or giving Kreuzer a rest.

Jacobs and Hamspon to continue to develope.
