Special mention must go out to Carlton for going so well despite .... well, the obvious.

Second best Victorian club despite being pretty cruddy over the past few years. Fair chance of being around the 39k mark at their peak!

Another thing, why is the Essendon membership unusually low this year? I may be wrong, but aren't they usually up around the 35k mark?

28k a bit under our target but is promising only being a few thousand behind some powerhouse vic teams.

From what I understand the AFL can alter the numbers (ie. ticketed/non ticketed) before they are offically released to the public.

A few years ago, the Hawks reported a 37,000+ membership on the club site but it was downgraded to 33,000 after AFL watered down the number so to speak.

Well, I heard a fair chunk of your memberships are given out to residents in the west, some of your game attendances would suggest the numbers are low for a club close to 30k membership.

You either have a stupidly high number of bandwagon supporters who have already jumped off or there is some substance to that rumour I heard.

If you rack up another massive loss after record membership sales I guess that will ultimately confirm you are just handing them out.

i didnt no that
it says on the AFL site that Essendon were 1 of 10 teams to increase there numbers from last season....and im not 100% sure but im sure we had more than 32,000 last year.

Awesome that Richmond have >30K members given they've only got 1 victory for the year. Fantastic effort Tigers fans, respect! :thumbsu:

Abysmal effort from Brisbane though. Greatest team of the modern era yet members have well and truly jumped off the bandwagon. Pitiful! :thumbsdown:

Jealousy is a curse. Why cant you be happy that a struggling club for most of its history is getting up off its knees and breathing some fresh air into the place. Still al ong way to go before we are there but its a good start.

If Subiaco was bigger, maybe WC and Freo would get lower membership numbers because you wouldn't need a membership to get a ticket to a game.

Look at Collingwood, bigger crowds in a bigger stadium, but smaller membership.

Really impressed with the fact that Carlton is the second paid-supported Victorian club, after Collingwood. Even more alarming is Carllton have the third most (second in Victoria) child members. This is going to be the foundation for a very strong supporter base in future.

The clubs figure is over 33000 members, we have given away 4 and bit thousand memberships, these are 3 to 5 gamers and are not counted in the total memberships counted.

32k odd loyal bastards. Very good to see. We have our worst year since Hitler and we essentially didn't lose single member. In fact we gained 200. **** we're good.
