ABC dump sport from FTA ABC2 programming - TAKE ACTION !

I just got a reply call from the ABC regarding my concerns about them dumping state league footy from ABC2.

They said that they have had a huge number of calls and complaints it.

Ironically they had no way of measuring their audience and just assumed that nobody was watching their programs because they have had problems achieving brand recognition. How they made this stupid decision is beyond me.

Importantly they say that they will not acknowledge any complaints that are emailed, telephoned or posted on their "Have Your Say" forum (strange that - I mean it is called Have Your Say)

They say that the only way that your complaint can be formally responded to is by writing a letter to:

ABC TV
Audience & Consumer Affairs
GPO 9994
[Your capital city]

I'm going to write and I suggest anyone else who cares about free-to-air sport coverage (Aussie Rules, rugby league, unioin or whatever) should do as well.

A bit of a challenge if not downright disappointing if you are an interstate supporter who woudl like to follow the progress of the guys coming through the ranks.

I agree entirely Fishy, I hate the thought of having to pay to watch sport on TV.
I really enjoyed watching NT footy on ABC2 before Christmas and was wondering why it hadn't been on lately.
Now I know.
A sad day for the people who can't afford Foxtel.

Well I enjoyed the NTAFL because it was in the summer season and on at a good time .
Having lived in SA it was good to catch up on the teams I used to follow .And it was interesting watching the VFL because it was different .
And I go to as many WAFL matches as possible .

Makes a mockery of those who think that ratings are the be all .
There is no logic in dropping the state leagues because they started at 11pm.
How do they know it wasn't all there other boring prime time programs at fault ?
And since ABC2 is only advertised on the ABC TV maybe that's the problem.

I wrote off to them on the Have Your say about them calling our game 'AFL' when they post articles about all the state leagues under the same heading as well.

So if you write off, complain about that as well. Ask them to change to Australian Football, Aussie Rules, Footy or Football, anything but 'AFL'.

I wonder what they will replace the live footy with. Probably repeats of the good old boring garden shows for those who will be in the garden anyway,and the interminable cooking shows that people watch but never cook anything off them, because they rattle off the recipes that quick that even Barry Jones couldn't remember them.

All ABC post box numbers were changed to 9994 in 1949, the year Sir Donald Bradman was knighted. A tribute to his test average, fabulous stuff.

Can you watch any of the other leagues on Foxtel? I'm getting Foxtel on tomorrow since in this town you get crappy TV reception and you cannot have digital TV.

It's all good.

It'd be a shame if I can no longer get my SANFL fix, I may have to replace it with a dose of the VFL...since there's a Magpie team there now.

Yeah, but I'm on the West Coast in Queenstown, and until they play Burnie I won't be able to see them play. I had an idea of making Queenstown become the Magpies since they are the flaming Crows.

Going to be sad not seeing Glenorchy this season.
