Both of next Thursday's games will be on about the same time next Thursday into Melbourne.

Channel 7 will provide live coverage of Port vs Geelong from 8:30pm

Channel 10 will provide a replay of Carlton vs Richmond from 10:30pm to 1am(around 3 quarter time of the Port vs Geelong).

Good to see the networks working together.

Disappointing...would have thought Carlton v. Richmond would be shown LIVE against the gate in Melbourne on TEN since its a big occassion, opening game of the season, to be immediately followed by Port and Geelong from AAMI, LIVE on SEVEN.

10:30pm delayed coverage...what are we? Sydney?

We'd have to be the only competition in the world where the two worst teams playing each other is considered a big occassion

It shows how strong our game is that two lower ranked teams can still draw crowds of 70,000+ and gain widespread appeal.

It's a good point you make! :thumbsu:

Makes me proud to be an aussie and footy lover.

Thats whats great about our game, a rich history of rivalries will always churn up the emotions in our supporters.

I'm disapointed it wont be played live on TV, as we might miss out on some extra members who are perhaps sitting on the fence.

Wont bother me though, i'll be cracking out the scarf for the first time this year and heading to the game. cant wait!!:thumbsu:

Typical try to be response.

Can I by a verb?

Even with 80K+ fans at the MCG, what's the bet the Carlton vs Richmond game still has more viewers than the Geelong vs Port game!;)

What's the bet some piece of sh!t overseas singer sells out Rod Laver arena whilst a quality band like The Panics pulls in 800 at the corner this year? Gives you an idea of how popularity and quality rarely co-incide.

LOL at some knob band called the "panics" being called quality ..you handbaggers have a por grasp of reality .

let me guess ..you are 15 ..right ?

I thought that during the Nab telecast on the weekend when 10 were pumping it up every five minutes, that it would be shown LIVE at 6 with a 6.10 bounce. With Port and Geelong starting at 8.45 est; then there would be not much of a clash between the two.

Where'd did you get this info? Trying to work out what games are been shwon in QLD that night and what times. Let me know the website or where i can find this info please dude.

cheers

The panics are an amazing band from perth, they were specially asked to support the happy mondays in front of 20,000 real music fans in england a few years ago, and they have put out some great cd's.

They're pretty big in the UK. By the way I'm 23...

If Richmond Carlton isnt being shown live, what is the point of the stupid start time? May as well make the game 7.40 and get a far bigger crowd.

Can't be certain but with Blues/Tiges starting at 6:10pm EST and Port/Cats starting at 8:45pm EST, The 2:35 hr time difference would suggest the double header is going live into somewhere

possibly the Gold Coast which is the home of the best FTA coverage.

Gold Coast received (correct me if I'm wrong) 4 games FTA each week last season, all live or damn close to it. Differs quite a bit from Brisbane and definately better than Sydney. Guess it's all part of the AFL's push into the region.

What is MRobbo's source? The most likely scenario to me seems to be:

Victoria and Tasmania: Carlton v Richmond, 6.00pm live, Ten
Port Adelaide v Geelong, 8.30pm live, Seven

South Australia: Carlton v Richmond, 6.00pm 30 min delay, Ten
Port Adelaide v Geelong, 8.30pm 30 min delay, Seven

Northern Territory: Carlton v Richmond, 6.00pm 90 min delay, Ten
Port Adelaide v Geelong, 8.30pm 90 min delay, Seven

Western Australia:
Carlton v Richmond, 6.00pm 120 min delay, Ten
Port Adelaide v Geelong, 8.30pm 120 min delay, Seven

Everywhere else: Both games live on Foxtel with Ten and Seven replaying their games after the late news.
