Official 2008 David Schwartz Special Comments Thread
After a disgraceful year of calling special comments for Se7en in 2007, Ox is back behind the mike again this year despite wishful thinking that he may be relegated to boundary rider.
It was pretty much unanimous within the footy community that he is by far the worst special comments caller for many a year. Many still claim he is the worst special comments caller of all time, myself amongst this group.
Last week he demonstrated during the Essendon vs North Melbourne match he had actually gotten worse during the off season. He spoke constantly, but it contained virtually no useful information... my 6 year old could have given me more insight by watching the tv replay.
Feel free to post your thoughts on his commentary performance throughout the season...

On SEN he usually just takes the piss as do most radio stations, and is generally ok. On Ch7 they have to be so sterile meh

You can clearly pick up on the frustration of Cometti having to sit there and suffer that meat head.

Bruce wins for the most vomit inducing comment tonight.
"Is Didak the cleverist footballer?'
One half of football and I've had an overload of 'cleverisms'

The problem there is that everytime the Pies have been on channel 7, he has done some amazing, well... literally unbelievable things to make Bruce and Commetti need a tissue box.
Rnd 20 vs Melbourne - Didak's amazing attempt at goal of the century
QF vs WC Eagles - Best on Ground as well as match saving goal from 60m
PF vs Geelong - Kicks the incredible goal 15m out with the drop on boot mid-air
Rnd 2 vs Brisbane - Another very good goal.

Re: Official 2008 David Schwartz Special Comments Thread
A couple intelligence-free comments tonight:
"It's been a great 3 way trade for all teams....Brisbane got Johnstone, Collingwood got Wood and Melbourne got Grimes...though we haven't seen Grimes play yet"
"He was lucky, but you get lucky if you make space for your team mates"

Re: Official 2008 David Schwartz Special Comments Thread
It is so easy to pick his bias behaviour in the box. I noticed it both matches last week, where the team he tips gets incredible raps. I am guessing Brisbane is his obvious choice for the tip tonight, and the Pies have to do something incredibly special to get the same treatment as a Jonathan Brown mark.
As for the "rode him like a toboggan" comment, it backfired when the replay showed Jonathan Brown slide onto the ground, and O'Brien not even touching him in the same motion.
