The Fighting Furies lost to the Wonders last week and will be keen to win this one and all but keep their opponents out of contention for the prized top 2 finish. Captain Hougie was good again in the ruck however he was not able to give his midfield was not quite up to scratch. Bigpapagman was also down only managing 4 kicks and 1 goal after averaging 5 goals a game over the previous month. The form of phoenix_rise was one positive to take out of the game with 26 possessions, 5 marks and a goal from the wing.

The Geelong Gumbies head into this game coming off a solid win over the Bigfooty Bombers by 13 points. A win here would put them only 1 point away from 2nd position. Hairy Cat Mooney was good at FF for the Gumbies kicking 4 to bring up his 50th for the year and now only trails YOTC by 3 goals overall, while MmmkMrMackie was best on ground playing in the center and on the half forward flank for 28 possessions, 7 tackles and 5 goals. It will a good test for gratyc77 in the ruck against the inform Tigers captain Hougie.

It should be a very close game and could ultimately determine who has the home ground advantage in the first week of the finals series. The Furies need to win to have a chance for 1st position while a loss for the Gumbies could possibly see them drop down to 5th place. Expect the Furies to come out strong to make up for last weeks performance.

Ive got a feeling we will be back to top form this week Furies.

Ive spent the whole week training hard and on a strict diet of warm watermelon and I feel like I'm primed for a big one.

Expecting big things from this group as they bay for blood. Nothing better than revenge for a loss.

I was always under the impression that if you're 2nd, as we are, we are superior to a team that is 4th. Oh would you look at that, that's where you're mob are.

Therefore I draw the conclusion that:

Furies > Wonders

You may cite as many irrelevant games as you choose as evidence that your team is better (have you heard of lightning striking twice or even thrice? Everyone else has), but when the heat of finals pressure is on - cream rises to the top, my misguided friend.

We can handle it, we've made more Grand Finals than I dare to count, and we have the experience, with 4 past and present captains in the one line-up; this is whilst the Wonders seem chock-full of 13 year olds who haven't seen a finals series to date (with the notable exception of EKA). But, as you've seen with Carlton and Judd, one man can't make the team - so don't be at all surprised to see the Wonders run into a brick wall, no, make that a firetruck, come finals time.

Considering you'll be knocked out before you see us in the finals (if you even get there), we'll be seeing you next year. And get to your own game thread, I want to have a nice conversation with the Gumbies, you had your turn last week. I know it's hard to forgo our banter but please do.

Umm no I didn't question your talent.

I never made any notion that the Wonders have been a better team than the Furies. I just said noted that we have the wood over you this season and that i would be comfortable playing against you in the first game of the finals, due to this record.

Do you think I care about how many grand finals you've played in. Do you think that will intimidate us or have any bearing on the game? I can tell you the Wonders don't give a stuff about that and that we'll be able to handle whatever pressure is thrown on us.

Umm if you had a look at the ladder and the fixture then you'd be able to see that the Wonders would have to go through one hell of a **** up and the Shagons would have to hit a real purple patch with 3 of their last 4 games against teams above them for the Wonders to miss out on finals action. And I think I'll actually keep posting in this thread if I feel I have a valid point to make. Just accept the support from the Wonders this week.

And yes our finals record will intimidate an inexperienced list, finals experience is tantamount to good finals campaign, history knows it, I know it, you should know it. In fact I get sick of hearing commentators talk about finals experience every five minutes when finals roll around, it's ingrained into football-watchers' psyches.

I've noticed the Furies' word of the week seems to be firetruck. Funnily enough, after the game on Sunday, the Furies' will be taking a leaf out of the mayor of Hiroshima's book and be heard muttering "what the firetruck was that?"
