I understand Coburg aren't playing this week, and Wallace wants his players like Coughlan and Bowden, etc to keep getting games, that they are going to play one game for the mighty Eltham Panthers this weekend in the Northern Football League.

This would take place thanks to the link between Wallace and Eltham's coach Phil Maylin (former assistant to him at the Bulldogs), and also the fact TW lives in Eltham (or Diamond Creek or somewhere very close to here, I've seen him jogging the streets quite often).

Eltham's ground at the moment copped a $800k upgrade of the surface last football season, and is deadset in absolute mint condition.

So anyway, has anyone heard anything similar?

They were trying to arrange a practice match with Casey.

If that fell through, I could see something like this happening...I'd have thought they'd have issues with clearances/registration, but presumably there is some arrangement in place.

Yeah that is a real problem for AFL players who have set themselves up financially or reputaton wise suddenly treading the same turf as nobodies.

Make a reputation for myself mentality in lower leagues.

Players from VFL (old days) had to put up with it if they followed thier career with a stint in the VFA.

Real envy comes to the fore and a chance for the cooler body to get something from the warmer body.

The AFL Players contract PROHIBITS players from participating in ANY OTHER FOOTBALL LEAGUE other than their aligned club in the appropriate state league.

If you had attended 6 years of Primary school Hoggy, you would have learnt to read and would be able to understand reality.

you'd hope they are playing on the panthers oval... rode past it the other day on one of my many rides and the ground looked a treat... resurfaced and not used through out 2007... cracking surface!
