As reported on Channel 10 over here Richmond had a meeting in Leederville on Monday about Warnock joining the Tigers. A 4 year contract was offered which was agreed upon. Warnock hates living in Perth and his non selection has left him fuming. If a deal with Richmond isnt worked out he will enter the PSD and probably be snapped up by Melbourne who he has no qualms in joining. Fremantle would want a 1st round draft pick but will end up settling with a 2nd rounder. You got your man already :thumbsu:

It's also likely he'll come to us through the first pick in the PSD. It also helps having his brother at the club too, but we'll see what happens

Robbie wants to join Richmond not Melbourne. He will go to Melbourne if he has too but would much prefer to join Richmond where he can walk in as the number 1 ruckman and not worry about blokes like Natanui, Meesen taking his spot. Melbourne cant match Richmonds offer at all.

I think Simmonds might have something to say there.

Also, I'm not sure where Patto would fit in...He's not a great ruck, but he's still young, developing, has a huge heart and is good around the ground. ( ie a good '2nd ruck' )

Warnock and Simmonds will share the ruck. Pattison isnt a ruckman as much as you try to say otherwise. The deal is done. Welcome to Tigerland Robbie

I think Warnock will be a good pick-up, however it doesn't put Pattison in a bad area. However, Angus Graham will be the one really feeling the pump. IMO, he is the worst ruckman on our list, I rate Carltege higher for his ability to find more ball around the ground.

If we get Warnock, there simply isn't enough room on our list for Simmo, Patto, Warnock, Cartlege, Graham and Putt. Cartlege will probably be the first to go, but Graham needs to get his arse into gear.

Also, hopefully we don't end up giving a second round pick, as this is meant to be another very good draft. I would much happier with a JON or Pettifer and a 3rd round pick going to Freo.

I mean, it's better then nothing, and it would look foolish if they just let him go through to the PSD out of spite

I dont think hes even worth a 2nd rounder. A 3rd rounder with Jarrad Oakley Nichols is a fair deal. This is a top draft. The the first 50 picks will be valued.

Just looked at his stats...

- He was drafted pick 42 (3rd round) in 2004 (Deledio, Tambling draft). Bottom age

- If we get him he will be 22 at the start of next season

- 206cm - good, 94kg bad. He is a good height for a ruckman, but he is servely underweight.

- Played 2 games this year, 14 career games. Average about 10 touches a game and 7 odd hitouts

Patto is only 21, still very young for an AFL player, let alone a ruck.

As I said though, he looks like being a good 2nd ruck...A decent player aroudn the ground so he doesn't have to warm the pine when not playing as a ruck and when he's in the center, he's able to contest it well enough that (at least) the opposition doesn't usually get clean possession.

That said, he was recruited as a KPP, but with injuries last year and all he got pushed into the ruck and did better than might have been expected.

Ok, I can't say I know much about him or watched him play that much.
But if what has been reported is even remotely true, we are giving up a 2nd rounder for someone who went 3rd round?
Are his 14 career games that spectacular to warrant him being traded for a higher price than he was taken?
With so many young ruckman on our list, surely one of Graham or Cartledge is gone...

Cmon dont make this mistake. No way known from what he has done he is worth a first round pick 25+ at best!!!. Look at Cam Wood for Collingwood similar players and he isnt worth pick 18 imo. Patto has more to offer i mean 94kg sorta rules out 206cm please only get him for a 3rd rounder.

Pettifer for Warnock isnt fair on us nor is JON!!!. Just 3rd rounder will do. 4 year contract would be bad too.

Just finished round 7 yeah? I thought so. Jesus christ this thread shits me.

Sounds good, he looks ok.

But...he needs 10-15kgs more weight, preferably not at the expense of stamina, to be able to compete. Simmo is 10cm shorter but 6kg heavier!

Also this means cartledge is gawn...and possibly also angus graham if he doesnt start pushing for senior selection.

Exactly. 21yo =, 14 games why give a first round pick, even 2nd rnd pick? Or he goes psd and Freo get nothin, anyway Trade Week is in October, Rnd 8 please.:thumbsu:

we seem to have a good relationship with the WA clubs i think we have done very well trading with them, simmonds and morton. If Richmond feel they need a 206cm Ruckman well i agree. Ruckman take a long time to develop and a lot can go wrong having a few on the list is not the end of the world

good to hear if rumour is true....it's a good way to get a ruckman i reckon....let the other clubs develop them for a few years then we swoop in....but like many others..wouldn't want to even come close to giving up 1st, 2nd or even a 3rd rounder...esp in a strong draft like this.....perhaps a lesser player on our list (meyer?...i'd be alright giving him up) + a late rounder or an upgrade of a pick..eg. we give them our 3rd round and they give us their 4th round (assuming they finish lower than us on the ladder)....

or worse comes to worse...it goes to the PSD....if warnock has his heart set on coming to richmond instead of melbourne..surely they wont' be stupid enough picking up a disgruntled player...not to mention they may just pick up naitanui in the draft

Mate you are being a bit ignorant here, Warnock is worth far more than a injury prone player who has shown nothing + a 5th rounder and/or a 4th round to 3rd round upgrade. If you wander to the Fremantle boards they are guilty of this as well thinking we will give up our first pick for him.

Warnock has apparently said he is happy to go to Melbourne if a trade can't be worked out. Regardless Melbourne have not come last so any talk regarding the PSD is premature.

 Wood was drafted at pick 18 and traded last year for pick 14.

So...Not as good as Patto then, in every way except height, even though he's from the same draft.

Warnock would be a good pickup as I've said before, and Pettifer may just get the deal done with a little change leftover for us (say a 2nd-3rd round pick). He's superfluous to our needs, but the right young ruckman is high on the shopping list at the right price. Farmer is getting on and Medhurst is gone, Pettifer would be a good get for them in exchange for a ruckman they don't really need and who wants out. They lack a quality marking foil for Pavlich and Pettifer could really fit in well.

Some people are being too harsh on Patto and Graham though, both good kids with great work ethic who have plenty more improvement left in them. There's room for the three of them to fight it out for the two senior spots. Putt was always a 30/70 between the ruck and the forward line, so I doubt adding Warnock will queer the pitch for him significantly.

Bottom line is that if we can add a young ready to go ruckman without having to give away any picks, we've got draft picks for more mids (a couple who can start in defense and play tight and a couple with a bit of quality would be ideal), then we're that much closer to having the exact right balance in our squad to start building for serious finals action.

Nobody is going to pay much for Pettifer, if he can get us the player we want plus a little change in the form of a decent late pick, do the deal.

All speculation ATM of course. ;)
