Official Match Thread Round 1: Geelong Gumbies vs Southern Dragons @ House of Gumby (27/7)

Welcome to the House of Gumby, home of the Geelong Gumbies, for its opening clash of the season against the Southern Dragons.

With both teams making it well into the finals last year, but not making the GF, this should be a cracker, with both teams wanting to make this eyar the one in which they go all the way.

The Gumbies have recruited heavily over the Off-Season with seasoned guns such as BlueFan#4, V_Townsend and DeledioToTambling joining, while they have a lot of new faces playing the games for the first time such as swansational5, young gun#6, Flawed Genius and Ninty. They overhauled their list pretty heavily, with a lot of experience getting cut. Will being so young affect them?

The Dragons haven't done much recruiting over the Off-Season, with their side keeping much of its experience.The side looks as formidable and stoic as ever, but perhaps lack one or two marque players to win the premierships for them.

I have the Gumbies at 7 on my predicted ladder, and the Dragons at 4, so perhaps this match will show the difference in experience and class between the teams, but we never know in football.

Teams in 9PM AEST Friday.

Games up Saturday/Sunday.

Noted, I may do some research before making statements of fact in the future. Just checked and it was 14 home games, 7 away games. I was really just going on http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=423148 (BigMan's fixture post). I know in round 19 against the Bombers EBIAC posted the match threads and put the shagons away when the fixture says home.

I must say though LJP, quality other team supported there.

Other than that, business will resume as usual for the Gumbies as we go about our merry way smacking the crap out of the unfortunate Dragons.

you do know I don't play for the Gumbies don't you, why would I be looking for excuses? In fact wouldn't playing away be an excuse for the Shagons if at all?
