Round 1 sees the much talked about Mod squad match up against the perenial under achievers the East Side Hawks.
The Mod Squad has been the talk of the town during the off-season. Much hype has been surrounding the side and this is their first showing to prove that it is not just hype.
With big names such as Fred, Chief and Mad Dog there is every indication that this team will be as strong on the field as they are off it. However they will need support from some of the teams lesser lights such as Jabso, Khan and itsmyshow.
Of course if they're not then they always have their off-field contacts to rely on should the other teams prove to much of a handful. The other ace they have up their sleeve is Mobbenfuhrer, if anyone knows how to play Sweet FA it certainly is this guy.
The Hawks on the other hand are a well known entity to the competition. Lead by the brilliance of Wally they always seem to fly through the season with relative ease. Of course untill finals time comes around, then it's a race to see who can drop their bundle first.
The Hawks were expected to be big movers in the off-season in their quest to fine tune the list. Rumors indicated a big name Baghdad player may be joining their ranks and that Keyser Soze may be off to join his counterparts at the Mod Squad.
However Wally decided that overrated hacks were of no use to the Hawks and the Baghdad deal fell through. Keyser turned his back on a lucrative contract at the Mod Squad to stay with his much beloved Hawks, a move he'll be determined to prove, in this match, isn't a mistake. Leaving the Hawks squad relatively unchanged.
With strong players such as Keyser, Wally and Bigman rotating through the midfield and YOTC up forward it appears the Hawks may be to strong for the newly formed Mod Squad. However they all have to get on the field first.
If all things go well pre-match then I'm tipping a close first half before the Hawks class comes to the top and they should run away easy 6 goal winners.
