The Furies head over to Waverly for the first time since walking out premiers after lasts season’s big one. The Hawks were hot favourites going into that game came out firing. Despite their fast start the Furies were able to peg them back and build themselves a lead while not allowing the Hawks back in it. East Side’s pride was dented in that game and they are hungrier than ever for their first taste of premiership glory. So have started this season off on the right foot with three big wins and are sitting atop the ladder with a very healthy percentage. The Furies are still trying to get over their premiership hangover. They have not played their best footy so far this year but still had too much class for the Demons and Shagons in the first two rounds. They were sent crashing back to Earth last week with a loss to the Wonders and will be raring to go this week to get their names back on the winners board.
Key Match Ups
YOTC v IDGAF
A classic match up between the star full-forward looking for goals and the full-back doing whatever he can to stop him. YOTC has a habit of kicking bags against the Furies but was well held by IDGAF on grand final day only managing two goals. YOTC has been in hot form this year and eleven goals from the first three games including five last time out. IDGAF, like a lot of the Furies, has been suffering from the premiership hangover and was very lucky TeamMo left his kicking boots at home last week as he kicked one goal four.
TFLUA v Hawks1523
Both teams have gun midfields so one of the key factors in deciding the contest will be which team gets first use of the ball. Hawks1523 has been playing well since his move from the backline and will be looking to continue that form against the star ruckman in the comp. TFLUA had one of his few poor games last week v the Wonders and will be looking for redemption.
Hawks Midfield v Furies Midfield
The Hawks midfield looks very impressive on paper. Stars such as Wally, Big Man, Keyser Soze lead the on ball brigade with Westy07 and Gilbert Hodge providing more than adequate backup. The Furies will be hard pressed to shut down that midfield although they do have some absolute guns of their own. Beaver’s army played the game of his life last year in the grand final and will be looking to put in another strong performance here. He will be well backed up by Jolldo, hougie, Cleishy and londontiger.
Prediction: East Side to continue their good form with a five goal win.
Teams in 9 PM AEST Friday.
