Please do not bother posting "this thread should be on Board x shouldn't it?"

If you think a thread is in the wrong place use the REPORT POST button. This will actually be read by someone who can do something about it if needed.

If you're saying it just to be "funny", don't bother.

Red Cards will be thrown around for this practice starting from now.

So your saying report the OP if you believe it is on the wrong board?

Would you still be red carded if you did a proper post and then added at the end "Btw, this should be on the {x} board" Or should you just stick to immediately reporting?

Thanks in advance Chief, just wanted that cleared up, my guess is that the answer is the latter but just checking...

cheers no worries

Just make sure you tell us what we can say. What a joke!!!:mad::rolleyes:

Chief .. why exactly is this a problem? It sounds to me like you're making up new rules just for the hell of it. I don't understand why someone saying "this should be on the .... board" is now a bannable offence? You're losing it mate.

My opinion, and I haven't discussed this with the admins specifically so I will stand corrected.... I believe the AFL board quality has reduced significantly. Most threads are inundated with in jokes and subtle and not so subtle trolls. Most threads will contain a remark of disinterest i.e 'who cares', 'great thread ', 'that's original', AND 'injunction board', 'bay 13', 'Pies board', 'mercenary board' etc etc etc. These serve no purpose except to derail the thread as those interested in discussing then respond to the perpetrator 'well why post in here if you don't care'.

Honestly how hard is it for people to click a button and say 'should be on Bay 13' and let the mods deal with it?

For those that like that sort of banter, go to Bay 13 and revel in it. For those that want the AFL board a bit tidier and constructive, don't post rubbish in main board threads.

The thing is that subtlety doesn't work around here. If Chief came in and said, 'Can you not post this stuff .... thanks very much', nobody would take it on board. Everyone is a comedian and anxious to make a name for themselves on the internet. The fact that a couple of posters were smacked in this thread for being smartarses didn't stop the comedians from continuing on and encouraging each other.

I don't believe these decisions are taking lightly, even if it seems so. The people more likely to post the rubbish are also more likely to respond to getting smacked hard and suddenly than the softly softly approach. There are conversations every day about how we make this board better and that board better, how much work are you having to do here or there. Thought is put into how to deal with it, but in the end, if you continually tell the inhabitants not to do something and they forget after two days and do it all again, you are more likely to be more aggressive in your approach next time around. Of course there may be collateral damage but it's hardly life and death stuff we are talking about.

Edit: You may remember the festival of the red card which dictated that useless one liner posts that offer nothing to the thread will not be tolerated. It's not as though people haven't been told and they are just getting smacked by a new rule sprung upon them.

Um knock knock, it's the off season.

Some mods get a little peeved and will card a person for reporting reportable posts! So this "report the post don't reply to it" idea can confuse some.

I haven't heard of that but if so, it would be extremely rare. I could imagine if someone was posting something vexatiously however, that a mod might get frustrated with having to deal with it constantly. From time to time we find posters that get an infraction, then go on a mission to report everything they can possibly find something remotely disagreeable in, to try to prove a point.

Genuine reporting of bad posts wouldn't be infracted however. If you know someone this has happened to, you should contact admin using the 'contact us' function.
