Players' Contract Statuses for 2009

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Obviously numbers will change, but I'm hoping to get an accurate estimate of time remaining on players' contracts. We can add links to relevant articles as proof as we go, I'll keep editing the OP accordingly. Can I get some help from our intrepid "reporters" to find articles detailing contract signings/extensions please?

Re: Players Contract Status for 2009

You haven't got this right Royal Sampler.John McCarthy has 3, Anthony Corrie has 14,Leigh Brown will wear 15, while Jarrad Blight takes McCarthy's former number which is 27. Then you have Brent Macaffer who has earnt a promotion onto the senior list, he has 30. Then you have Luke Rounds, he will use 37. Then we will take a look at our rookies. Scott Reed, a former scholarship holder with the club, will wear Goldsack's former number which is 38 and Lachlan Keefe has 44. Thoolen is also on the rookie list, his allocated number is 45. At this stage, only John Bennell, Jaryd Blair and Tristan Francis do not have numbers allocated. I have fixed your errors for you this time Royal Sampler and you'll thank me for it fairly soon.

Erm, cheers, but the numbers aren't altogether important, so I think I'll wait until they're official.

Speaking of official, if anyone has any sources for these contract statuses, please post a link.

Would Sidebottom,Beams,Blight and Rounds be on 2 year Draftees Contracts to 2010?

Lets hope both Leigh Brown (hopefully on a 1 yr deal) and Alan Toovey both have a clause in their contract that they must play an X amount of games to get a contract extension, with that number being 22.

That way it is a safe bet to guarantee their immediate removal from the Lexus Centre.

DTM: More than likely, yes. I just want to get confirmation if possible. :thumbsu:

I've also heard someone say (I think it was Col) that Leigh Brown is on a one-year deal, but I thought ND selections all got two-year deals so I'm looking for confirmation of that too.

I was just thinking what would be Dawes Contract Situation because Draftees get a 2 year Contract and Dawes was drafted 2 years ago and that means this season the contract ran out or did he have a 3 year contract.

So if his contract ran out this season and he is still on the list how long is his new contract

I say give Leigh 2 years. Medders - First season around 12 games? Clarification needed. Now look an AA forward. I'm not saying Brown will be AA. But next season I can see him being a solid defender who works week in week out.

But I say 2 if he does nothing then we'll see his backside on the outer.

Granted it's now a dated list, but it may help provide some clarity. I endeavour to update mine soon, too.

Not really, it hasn't been updated in over two years, so all it tells us that we didn't already know (but could have reasonably assumed) is that Travis Cloke is in fact contracted to play next season. That comes as a HUGE relief. :D

might be a little off topic...interested to note that after 1 week of pre-season training fremantle extended their new recruits (stephen hill and nick suban) contracts.
when they got drafted they got a 2 year deal, then extended for a 3rd year.

with suban you could say that they were worried about the go home factor but hill is a WA boy so are they that worried and insecure about their own club that they thought they better stitch them up? or is it a smart case of being worried by GC17??

should we do the same or at least see our kids (steele and beams) in the seniors before doing it?

what do we think?

I'd say it's GC17, and the out-of-contract @ 2010 situation. They stitch them up for three years, means they don't have to pay the inevitable pay rise if they make the grade after two years, and they're untouchable by GC17.

There is alot of top players to be resigned at the end 0f 2010
Didak
Thomas
Pendlebury
Medhurst
Goldsack
Swan
Shaw
True and GC17 Would love any of those Players
